  • It's a gamble at this price
Color: Blue Style Name: PPC02 Power Cage with Lat Pulldown
This is just a typical you get what you paid for kind of product. It's actually a pretty solid power rack for the price. However, the gamble really comes into play with quality control. Whereas higher priced items probably have better manufacturing processes, this one lacks. Some of you will get lucky and get parts that fit together seamlessly, others, like myself, will get parts that are misaligned... leading to quite the pain. In my case, it was the pull-up bar. The first one I received was warped and didn't line up correctly. AT ALL. I requested a replacement part. To the sellers credit, I received the new part swiftly. However, I wasn't lucky this time either... as the replacement part ALSO did not fit. I could only get one bolt lined up and through (out of 4 on this section) before needing to bend metal to get it to fit. Mind you the bolt I got into its designated slot WAS NOT tightened down with the nut, just there as a place holder to pin one end in so I could try to twist the rest of it into place. NO DICE. And, no, this isn't an issue that needs a bit of the proverbial "elbow grease". The amount of torque it would take to get this thing in place would require several people and/or machinery. But even with all of that, I wasn't particularly upset because I understood the risks when buying at this price. The full reason this products gets a 2 star review is because when I reached out to customer service again **CRICKETS**. No help. No swift response (none at all) or guidance on what I could happen next to address the issue. GHOSTED. So I'm requesting a return & refund. That's it. That's all I got. I'm sure others have had plenty of other issues with this product since, as I've said, QC probably isn't top-notch and other parts probably are produced at inconsistent qualities. Feel free to gamble. But just know that you are indeed gambling. Hope you get one of the good ones. ***UPDATE: The seller did contract me back after a few days. They sent another replacement pull-up bar and this one worked! Most of the previous review still stands. Order with hopes of getting it right the first time. But do know it seems the company will do everything it can to rectify any issues. Bumping this up to four stars due to sellers pretty good customer service. ... show more

  • Decent quality for a home gym but some build issues.
Color: Black Style Name: PPC03 Power Cage with Cable Crossover
I received the Power Cage in two boxes which made it easy to get it down into the basement. Unboxing was OK. The nuts and bolts package had come partly open and a few had spilled out. Not a big deal as I found all the pieces. Items were easy to identify and lay everything out and understand. The directions were enough to understand what goes where but honestly it's hard to mess up by looking at just the picture. So the assembly was a bit problematic. The first issue I ran into was the rear crossbar where the guide rods for the pully system go in. One of the guide rods was bent on the end and I thought was causing the issue of it fitting. Turns out there was a lip on the inside of where the guide rod fit into. I had to file that down to get it to fit. The second problem was one of the cables was missing. I emailed the company through Amazon. The company responded quickly and confirmed the right cable. They sent out a new cable which took about four or five days to get. The last issue was the chains for attaching the cables at the back. They are to short, so I ran down to the hardware store and bought a couple lengths of chain to replace them. Oh and the one last issue is with a guide rod. You are supposed to be able to slide a bolt through the top. One worked fine the other didn't, but I can't see the guide rod coming out given the way it is assembled. As for the assembly I recommend leaving everything a bit lose before tightening it all down. If you don't do this, the top two crossbars can be very difficult to get in place. The rest of the assembly was easy enough. Since parts were missing and the filing down of other parts it took some time to get it all done. Quality overall is pretty decent for a home gym. One concern I have is using the cables to the side of the power rack. It tends to waver a bit when pulling. This could be because I have it on a 3/4" matt. So I only use the cables directly inline with the rack from the front. I have been a bit nervous with putting a lot of weight on the cable system. It creaks a bit and I am not sure if I didn't tighten everything down enough or I just need to get used to it. So I keep an eye on it while I use the cables with any real weight. The last part of quality I have a concern with is the stacking of weight on the cable system. The rods for the weights are made of plastic and that's a little concerning. I may just need to get comfortable with it and build some trust. The pull up bar is a bit of a disappointing. The grip is pretty narrow and not etched at all. So I'll need to wrap it to get a decent grip. Overall for the money I would say it is worth it. It has changed my home workouts significantly. I only go to the gym now for cardio and leg day. After you tweak it all a bit and get used to it I'd say it's worth the money. As a caveat, I am not squatting 400lbs or doing 200lb lat pulls on this. Lifting moderate weight and wouldn't stack a ton of weight on it. But for the average lifter to avoid excuses for getting in your workout it is a good fit. ... show more

  • Smith machine is very smooth
Color: Black Style Name: PPC04 Smith Machine Power Cage
I had been looking for a power cage for some time. It ordered a different brand originally but it was completely damaged so Amazon returned it. So I went with this brand and opted for the smith machine combo. Surprisingly it arrived 2 weeks earlier than expected, which is awesome. I was a bit nervous after reading some reviews due to it being a bit or miss with parts lining up, but everything I got fit perfectly. No dings or anything so I was incredibly happy about that. I set it up by myself and took maybe 30 minutes to an hour tops? The smith machine is very sturdy and smooth. The rack itself is a bit wobbly as others have mentioned. When performing workouts with the smith machine the cage itself starts to sway back and forth to an extent. But nothing that makes you feel like you’re gonna die in it. Pros: smith machine is very smooth Arrived fast Feels solid Decent price point Cons: Not the sturdiest thing in terms of it wobbling(probably contradicts my “pro” but this comes with a price of course. The more you pay the sturdier it is. No option to purchase the lat pull down attachment separately(not really a con but I’d love to have this option!) No landmine attachment. Think it should have one or atleast have an option to get it since just about every other model has it. ... show more
