🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The product reviews for the power cage with the lat pulldown are overwhelmingly positive, highlighting its solid construction, value for money, and ease of assembly (although it may take time). Users appreciate its sturdiness and the fact that it doesn't wobble, even standing freely. Its compact size makes it suitable for home setups, yet it is versatile enough for a variety of exercises. However, one should be cautious of the exact assembled height to avoid clearance issues and the metal bending with excessive tightening during assembly.

Pros

  • 🏋️ Sturdy and well-made, with no wobble once assembled
  • 📏 Compact design that is space-efficient for home gyms
  • 🔧 Assembly is straightforward, with helpful videos available
  • 💪 Suitable for a variety of exercises, including use with TRX bands and core straps
  • 📦 Shipment is well managed, even in challenging conditions

Cons

  • ⚒️ Assembly can be time-consuming and parts may not be well labeled
  • 📐 Potentially misleading height measurement, important for rooms with low ceilings
  • 🛠️ Some users reported the metal bending if screws are overly tightened
  • 🔄 Caution required when setting up the pulley system, though instructions are adequate

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a quality, versatile power cage that fits well within a home gym setting and is a great bargain, this seems like a wise choice. Be prepared for a lengthy assembly, and double-check your space for the cage's height and clearance. Given the strong user satisfaction and the value you get for the price, it's a recommended purchase for fitness enthusiasts.

  • Amazing price for a beginner to intermediate lifter
This rack has been a game-changer for me, allowing me so much versatility in my home gym. Assembly was easy, and it took 3-4 hours to get the rack, and the lat pulldown dialed with a socket wrench. It's a two-person job, but in a pinch and with some extra time, you could do it by yourself. Once assembled, it has a compact size perfect for a garage, but it's still big enough to get the job done. Despite the 2x2-inch construction and the relatively high-gauge steel, the rack manages to be very sturdy. The only time I've seen it even slightly wobble was when I roughly dropped a loaded barbell heavily into the j-hooks. Although I have not bolted the rack to the floor (a possibility), even on weighted pullups, the rack doesn't really shake or shift. The lat pulldown works perfectly and it comes with all sorts of useful attachments. Some people have complained about the J-hooks, but I haven't really had a problem with them. They look more like miniature spotter arms that allow you to place a bar away from the back uprights and, thus, away from the lat pulldown wires. Without the J-hooks extending out into the rack, the back of the rack and wires would prevent you from setting a bench in a position where you could be almost directly under the bar. Yes, the J-hooks are a little loose on the rack, have a weight limit of 220 lbs, and the rubber pads that protect the hooks are cheaply made, but it is absolutely not a deal breaker. The only problem that I really have with this rack is that it's so good that I've been doing a lot more lifting and have now begun to daydream about upgrading to something wildly more expensive. If I were to improve upon this rack, I would place the holes closer together. At times, I'm setting up the bar, and it's either a little too near or too far from the floor/bench to be optimal. The landmine attachment is great if you're lifting it straight up and down, but its attachment point to the rack doesn't allow it to move quite as nicely laterally. Lastly, my dip bars were very slightly bent (almost imperceptible except to me, but I can't not see it!). You can't expect commercial-grade equipment at this price, however, this rack is solid, versatile, and still a steal for the money. ... show more

  • Awesome deal for the price
Overall, a great bargain for a sturdy well made product! All three boxes arrive without any real issue, in the middle of a snowstorm too! (Thank you FedEx!) They break the parts down perfectly so no one box is overly heavy. Assembly was relatively straight forward. Watch the assembly video to have an idea of what you're gonna be doing. We didn't and it made assembly more awkward than it needed to be for me and my kids when we attached the upright posts. You're gonna want at minimum a ratchet and socket set but ideally bring an impact driver. Note - They're not as clear about the actual assembled height. Mostly listed here at 80.7" but only in one spot does it mention it's actually 82.7" tall to the top of the pull up bar, so be sure to factor that in if you have low height clearance like me. The room in my basement where this went, the height varies from 82" - 84" depending on high or low spots on the floor coinciding with ceiling joist settlement/bowing, factor in about half an inch for the floor mats and I was really tight on clearance and in the end I had to position the cage so the pull up bar sat in between ceiling joists. Which for me wasn't an issue because I knew I wouldn't have the height clearance to do pull/chin ups regardless but something to keep in mind if you have height clearance issues like me. If you're getting the lat pull down attachment be aware that while it only adds about an additional 10 inches to the depth of the cage you need to give it much more clearance than that in order to fit a full 45 lbs plate on the lat pull down plate carrier. The assembly instructions were decent, take your time on the pulley and cable assembly as the instructions are accurate but not obvious. I've always been that guy that can just look at assembly instructions briefly and know what to do but I had to slow down for the pulley and cable section. You def need to take a little more time on those couple of pages. It's not hard, not really complicated either but you just need to take a moment to make sure you understand the path of the cable the pulley layout. Once you digest that, it's straightforward. Once assembled, it's pretty sturdy. It's more than enough for my needs, I paired it with a 300 lbs Olympic weight set from Dick's which this cage can handle without breaking a sweat. If you're a big power lifter though your mileage may vary. The lat pull down attachment works really well, I was worried about the action not being smooth or awkward or jank or all of the above but it's not. We'll see how it holds up over time. Hopefully Ultra Fuego sells replacement cables/pulleys as the engineer in me always sees moving parts as potential future failure points. Overall, me and my kids couldn't be happier with this. Will update if anything changes but for now, totally worth it and would recommend and would buy again if needed to! ... show more
