    • Not sure how "Ring" is an industry leader, this thing is hot garbage!
I bought this based on Ring's reputation and I will never do that again. The install and set up went quick and smooth at first. The video quality is really good but the motion detection lags quite a bit. If someone just walks up to your door, they will be at the door before you get the motion alert on your phone. The in the house chime (additional cost) was really annoying. There are certain chime sounds you can set on the app for your phone to make and then there are certain chime sounds you can set for the in the house chime and they are NOT the same. Technically there was one that was the same but I didn't like that one so if someone rang my doorbell, the chime would make one sound and my phone would make a different sound - ANNOYING!!! Now the best part, the damn thing would go off line almost every single day for NO reason! Sometimes when it went off line I was able to reconnect it, and other times I would have to call in for tech help. I will say the tech help people were always very knowledgeable and helpful but the damn thing should NOT be offline almost every day. OH and the modem, router, and doorbell were literally 2 feet from each other the entire time! After a month of battling with it, I yanked it off the wall. Well, it was too late to return it to Amazon, and Ring wouldn't do anything since I didn't buy it from them so I smashed it with a sledge hammer and threw out the pieces! Chime no longer connects. Yes, I tried it all. Unplug, reset, change locations, move router, reset entire operation, green light flashing, yes. I tried it all. Repeatedly. No, it does not work. This is a popular item??

    • “Don’t know what the big deal about Ring” update **Hate it
The device was very easy to installed. Video and picture is good, motion detector is good and the functions, however very disappointed I needed a pay subscription to see the history saved. I have other brand cameras and the history is saved at no charge at all. Update…I hate it. Can’t control the volume on the outside of the doorbell, it makes our internet sooooo slow I had to snooze it so that I can work on my computer. I hate it, hate it.     • Great Doorbell Cameras I rated a 5 until I discovered they don't support "motion alerts"!
This is a revision from 5 to1 to alert anyone else needing "motion alerts" these Ring Doorbells DO NOT have it!. If you don't want motion alerts I would still rate them a 5. I guess this must be covered in the pre-sale documentation but I missed it. We were already using several Ring stick up cameras but these are our first doorbell cameras. Until after installing them I did not discover this model does NOT support motion alerts which is the MAIN reason we bought them. (The Ring app We had just experienced an attempted break in (door frame damaged but they did not get it) and we "thought" these video doorbells would announce to a visitor (or intruder) they were being recorded which should be a tremendous deterrent. I have two "Pro" models on order which are required to do that. Again, these are great if you don't want that feature. Installation and set-up was very easy but I have two suggestions to make it even easier: 1. The instructions tell you to install the included jumper between "front" and "trans" terminals but never says whether the second doorbell camera is any different. It is NOT! Installing the one jumper will take care of both door bells. 2. Look through all the little folded pieces of paper that comes with the video doorbell and you will find one that includes duplicate QR Codes for both the camera and chime (if you bought a chime). I missed that piece of paper but noted the instructions called for scanning the QR Code "after" installing the camera so I scanned it under power before finishing installation since the QR Code would not be accessible but the duplicate QR Codes eliminate that problem but they are not mentioned in the instructions. ... show more

The product specs said 10-24volts. I had a 12volt system. Installed it and it didn't work, the diagnostics said low voltage change transformer. I ordered a 24Volt chime and 24Volt transformer. I got a 24V chime and a 16V transformer, I ordered another 24V Transformer. I changed all of it out, and the chime doesn't work, and the doorbell works occasionally. do not recommend. ... show more

Would not scan QR code, ring told me they had no record of the MAC address. The geniuses at Ring put the MAC address on the flat side of the surface that mounts to the wall by the way so that you have to remove the device from the wall to even read them the MAC address. The device is not even listed in their apps. You are way way better off wifi a Nest. Easy to setup and easy to use. This ring cam was a nightmare. IT Professional of 30 years. They told me to return it to Amazon. Excellent customer care right? ... show more

    • Doesn’t work after 2 weeks
Had this for a month and at first it connected right away and worked for two weeks. Now it says it won’t work at all. Have tried to see if I could restart it but nothing. Wiring is good. It says internet is good the number is green but still nothing. Chime is plugged into the outlet and shines blue but the doorbell doesn’t work. ... show more

    • Unable to set up due to connectivity issues, don't bother buying the doorbell with the basic chime
Even contacting Ring support, we were unable to set this up on our Apple devicds due to poor WiFi connectivity (we do have signal boosters near the front door). When I called Ring, they suggested upgrading to the Ring Chime Pro. Will return the chime portion if possible, if not, the doorbell and chime are going back. ... show more
