The classic machine-made Riesling and zinfandel glass of the established glass collection vinum should be part of the basic equipment of every sophisticated wine lover. The shape of the glass best supports the characteristic bouquet of fruity Red wines or floral white wines – aroma and taste are dominated by fermented grape juice and the flavour of yeast. Vinum glasses have proved to consumers and restaurateurs that the pleasure of consuming wine starts with the glass. All Riedel glasses are dishwasher safe. The Vinum collection from renowned Austrian glassmaker Riedel gives serious wine drinkers an extensive choice of moderately priced crystal, each glass designed especially to enhance a particular wine. Modest in size at 8-1/4 inches in height and with a capacity of 13 ounces, this glass is unusual in that it can be used for both a red Chianti and a white Riesling, or even a sparkling Vouvray.     • I've loved Riedel wineglasses for years.

While it's true that you can get decent glasses for cheaper, they can't approach the experience of drinking a great Bordeaux inspired wine out of a glass that's designed specifically to enhance the experience is something that other offerings just can't match. I have Riedel Sommelier glasses, which are hand blown lead crystal but they're very expensive and very fragile so I don't feel comfortable using them every day. These Vinum series Bordeaux glasses are a great everyday solution. Lead crystal, formed to enhance specific qualities in the wines I love the most but machine blown and more sturdy. And I'll tell you a little secret: unless you're dealing with a hardcore wine snob, most people will be just as blown away by these as they are by the much more expensive Sommelier versions. Personally, I prefer not to drink wine with people who use words like "precocious" to describe wine, I'd much rather enjoy wine with people who can just appreciate it for what it is and what it does in their mouth. These glasses are perfect for 99% of your wine drinking (of you're drinking big reds) and I'm pretty sure most people will get more enjoyment out of them than their more expensive cousins. These glasses are made for white wine. They are specifically made for Sauvignon Blanc. If you are a white wine drinker, you will love these glasses. Riedel makes the very best quality wine glass I have ever used. Because of their shape and design, these glasses make your wine taste the best. I did not believe that until I tried them for myself. Most prefer not to admit it but you can serve ordinary wine in a beautiful glass and guests will think it's wonderful. Serve beautiful wine in an ordinary glass and the wine will taste ordinary too. What do you want, they're Riedel! I've been drinking from Riedel glasses for years. I clumsily tipped one over and to the floor. Yes the stem shattered, but I was able to fill the bowl and finish my martini. Now I have two more. These are a shot larger than the one I broke. All the better.
