  • UPDATE: Falling apart after 7 months.
UPDATE ****** Dropping my rating down to one star because after 6 months this is falling apart. One of the main joints has come unglued (literally). A month ago I tried re applying more wood glue in the space created by the open joint but I wasn't able to get enough glue in there and it has now come apart again. It's one of the main joints at the bottom meaning that the gate has lost all stability and the gate when opens drops down and practically touches the floor. This on top of the broken latch piece (from my previous review leads me to the realization that this product is not at all well manufactured or using quality materials. VERY DISAPPOINTED for such an expensive purchase, with only a 90 day warranty. ************ After less than 5 months (I bought this in November 2019) the brown plastic housing attached to the bottom of the gate that holds the spring latch in place has broken thus rendering the gate useless as it will no longer latch closed. Can the vendor please respond and advise how i can obtain a replacement part. UPDATE : I emailed the vendor via their website ant they responding advising that the product comes with only a 90 day warranty and that the replacement part is $8. Unfortunately they (like most of the world) are currently shut down and will reach out to me when the Covid-19 lockdown is over. ... show more

  • Does The Job
I like this gate a lot. I just wish that it was not that expensive. I spent quite a bit of time looking for a free-standing gate with a door. I was surprised to find that most free-standing gates were short and came with no door. You have to step over them to get through them. I was concerned that a lot of them were simply not tall enough to keep my little guy (8.5 pound toy breed) from jumping over them. And I really didn't like the idea of having to step over it every time. I'm a small person and if I was carrying anything, it would be difficult for me, and I could imagine it becoming really annoying very quickly. So I spent the money and got this gate about 7 months ago. I am not disappointed. One thing that is important to note is that the feet stick quite far out from the gate. I understand this is necessary for stability, but it does mean that the gate will take up a bit more space, and you need to be careful not to trip on it. We put our gate at the bottom of our stairs to keep our fur-baby from being able to get upstairs. I've attached a picture of it with the door open. The adjustable side panels are also great, because you can wrap them around a set of stairs like we did, or you can straighten them out and block off a rather large opening. The best part is that because this gate doesn't need to attach to anything, you can quickly and easily pick it up and move it. Note: because the gate does not wrap all the way around our stairs, we do have to place some items like large books in between the lower spindles on our stairs because our little guy sneaks through them! Even so, I'm now purchasing a second gate because we like this one so much. ... show more

  • Let's get realistic in our reviews
For the life of me , I can't figure out what some of these people who review items on Amazon are expecting out of products. Their comments, many times, are just pet peeves brought about by over expectations from a mass production item. Likewise, their inability to assemble the unit properly, or use it as intended have no bearing on the product. For example, I own this gate; and am ordering another one as I write this note. This is a well constructed item; and does as it claims. Will it stop a determined St Bernard, or a 150# Rottweiler? I don't know, but my guess is not-- but I wouldn't expect it to do so. I would purchase something else that my common sense tells me should work better for my situation. But I am not faced with that problem, as my 4 Italian Greyhounds are more than deterred by this gate, and it looks really well in my home. That's about all that I can ask of the product! ... show more

  • Leg broke off IMMEDIATELY
When I found this gate I was so excited to finally have a way to keep my senior dog with incontinence problems off of my carpet while also having a gate that is easy on the eyes. It’s a beautiful gate as pictured and was when I unboxed it UNTIL I went to assemble and set it up by unfolding the gate and the leg broke off immediately. I believe that perhaps the leg had a crack in it before I ever opened the box and once it was set up, it just fell off. And the break is so bad, it’s not really something I can just glue on and go with it, as pictured in the photo I provided. Things happen and I’m super understanding so I emailed the seller in hopes of a replacement. They got back to me and asked for a photo of the broken area and then I NEVER heard from them again. I even sent a follow up email and got nothing. This is where I get frustrated because this gate is a pretty penny ($$$). So, now I’m stuck with a less than sturdy gate that is now off balance and wobbly, and my senior dog is now able to nudge her way around it since it doesn’t have a second leg to keep it leveled and weighted down on the floor. I went back through the reviews on this gate and noticed that several other people had the leg of their gate break off too. I’m very disappointed with the gate, but even more so with the seller. ... show more
