  • Great Camera, Features, and Coverage
Full Disclosure: Rexing sent the V2 Pro AI in order for me to review it. Pros: - The camera's field of view is excellent: between the 3 cameras, it can capture nearly all of the activity surrounding your vehicle. - Despite only being 1080p, the image captures are sharp and clear: the attached photos are image captures from the dash cam's video during the rain while the vehicles were in motion --I have blocked part of the license plate numbers out of an abundance of caution, but you can clearly make out the numbers of both vehicles from the front and rear cameras (and even the IR camera, which is intended for the cabin, but I thought I would test its outward-facing performance). - The mounting and wiring of these cameras was extremely easy, and everything that's needed was provided (that said, you may need to look into extending the cable for the rear camera depending on how you route the cables and how long your vehicle is) - I personally found the RexingConnect app to be completely functional: I had no issues connecting my phone to the application and downloading the videos. - The GPS logger works well and the speed reporting is accurate. - The camera's pedestrian detection was impeccable, even when driving in a crowded city. - The front cameras can be rotated and turned to your preference/needs. Other Observations: - Because the cameras can be moved around, you may need to spend time getting the camera positioning: poor positioning can definitely lead to false positives for the Front Collision and Lane departure warnings. - The Front Collision Warnings can sometimes give false positives when heading into a curve with a vehicle in the opposing lanes (i.e. the vehicle is directly in front of you because you haven't started the curve yet) - The Lane Departure detection can struggle a little when the lane markings are not clear (e.g. in the rain or when the lines are faded or non-existent), though this is a challenge for pretty much every camera that tries to detect lane boundaries -- The sensitivity affecting both of these can be adjusted to suit driving conditions, which definitely helps, though I think these can be further fine-tuned through firmware updates. -- Future firmware updates that provide on-screen alignment instructions for the camera positions would be also be of great value. Cons: - As noted above, I had to spend some time getting the camera and settings just right to ensure accurate Front Collision and Lane Departure detection, though I do believe firmware updates can improve this experience - The biggest con I encountered was that the Front Collision Warning can repeat over and over even when you behind the same car (e.g. if, on the freeway, you or the car are varying your speed slightly such that you keep entering and exiting or just varying within the detection range). This makes sense, as you are still within range and, thus, the possibility of a Front Collision still exists. It is just that this warning can feel a bit disruptive. -- My solution was to set the volume to "Low" so that the warning could still be heard but did not feel obnoxious. It is worth noting, however, that "Low" may be too quiet for you depending on the level of your cabin noise, so you will need to find what works for you. --- I'm not sure how Rexing could address this without undercutting the safety value of the feature: perhaps only noting "Vehicle ahead" the first time and then switching to an innocuous chime periodically so long as it's the same vehicle? Conclusion: I really like this camera and think it does its job extremely well. The only issues I do have with the camera are relatively minor, could potentially be resolved via firmware updates, and pale in comparison to the safety value having such a quality camera provides. ... show more

  • Overall Great Device
Here are my thoughts on the Rexing V2 PRO dash camera. I chose this model because I felt the triple-camera was a uniquely good fit to use on my 2018 Chevrolet Corvette, since the extra camera would provide at least some coverage when the roof (and thus the rear camera) is down and not in use. Installation: Smooth and straightforward. I had issues hiding the wiring in the windshield of the car as there just wasn’t much extra room to route the cables, but it was done after a lot of fiddling around. Everything clipped together well and worked on the first run without problems. I ended up leaving a lot of slack for the rear camera behind the passenger seat of the car that’s taken up when the roof retracts and keeps everything organized. Despite the connector being there, the fit is tight enough that (so far at least!) it hasn’t managed to come loose. Also, helpfully, they give you two bases and two adhesives in the package so if you, like me, screw up your first install you have a second go at it. Setup: The default setting for the audible “ding” for the camera goes off each time you hit a button and is *quite loud.* I suppose it’s better to start loud and be configurable down (or off in my case). Also a slight bit of annoyance was had with the front-facing camera: it ships with both cameras facing backwards, and you can either rotate the camera against the unit to face forward, or turn the camera around entirely. If you try the former first, like I did, you end up with your front camera upside-down. Why they give this option is a mystery but again, it was easily solved. Apart from those minor issues, it’s a dash cam: you set it up, you turn it on, you format the memory card and you’re off to the races. I chose to setup mine slightly to the passenger side of the windshield and up a ways both to keep it out of my line of sight and also to give it a more optimum view of the cabin/road. Use: The keen reader will have noticed the extremely odd color palette in the interior shot: I have no idea if this is a side effect of using a different image sensor to accommodate the IR, or the IR LEDs being on and somehow overpowering direct sunlight, but that is how my unit operates. Both my wife and I are wearing black T shirts but those and the car interior all register as a bright purple. It doesn’t really bother me, I wasn’t planning to use this video for anything besides insurance claims and the like should it be needed, but it was a bit strange. I played with the video settings but there wasn’t anything that would seem to cause or address this, but like I said, it doesn’t really impact what it’s for so I’m inclined to let it slide. Overall an extremely solid camera, and a uniquely good one for my use case here. Now I can drive confidently with the roof up or down and know I have video proof if something happens. The construction is solid, the unit attaches firmly to the windshield and doesn’t rattle around, the silent option means it doesn’t chirp or anything when I start the car, and it has all the quality functions I expect from previously purchased Rexing cameras. Excellent product overall, even if the one camera turned me purple. ... show more

  • Rexing AI
I like the AI but it needs a little works the camera are perfect through. Rear cabin and front camera. It’s two apps for this dash cam and they both work good. I have this in my car. I bought it off Amazon it was $100 cheaper on Amazon than Best Buy but I still got it installed at Best Buy for a $100 because it’s front and back camera. The change lane and letting you know that a car is ahead of you needs work but I think I can fix it ... show more
