When I put this bike together, I was surprised and disappointed that I had paid for a new bike (20 inches) that was not actually much larger than our current bike (18 inches). So much so, that I decided I would return it and went back to trying to teach my daughter (7) on her current bike. When I couldn’t raise the handlebars on her current bike, we tried the Retrospec again, using the same method (taking pedals off and lowering seat, then raising seat and putting pedals on after she could coast and control the steering). It was amazing how much easier this bike was for her to ride and control. It may not look much bigger, but I think they designed it this way on purpose. She will still get a few years out of it, and I am thrilled with the quality and style, as well as ease of riding. We will absolutely upgrade to the 24 inch of this same bike when she’s ready. Youngest kid has a hard time reaching a lot of the hand brakes on certain bikes so we were looking for a backpedal brake only to find this bike. We were able to adjust the hand brake to exactly what she needed. She was thrilled to have a girl bike that wasn't pink/purple/frilly. Bike is well made and seems really durable! The media could not be loaded. So I took my chance to get the 20” for my son since he’s on the taller side and use it as his first learning bike. My son learned to ride this yesterday (Saturday) and on the first day after 20-30 minute session with his dad, he learned to ride/pedal this on his own. This bike is beautiful, lightweight and easy to ride for first learners and great for those that already know. This bike is definitely a much more quality bike than you would get from the big stores. It seems like it should have cost quite a bit more because of the quality. My nine-year-old girl loves it. It is the 20 inch. The 20 inch is too big for my six-year-old girl.

My 6-year-old loves her first bike! She used to ride a balance bike so she picked it up pretty quickly and was already riding on her own the first day she got it. Make sure to get measurements for your kid before you buy a bike! My 6-year-old is very tall for her age -- go by size, not age!
