I bought this as a replacement for a similar cat toy which uses 3 C batteries. I wanted one that could be recharged via USB. Just received the item today and the cats absolutely love it. Neither pays any attention to the butterfly attachment right now but probably will in time. Easy to assemble, was already charged. I like that it automatically turns off after 15 minutes and will turn on again when activated by motion 3 hours later. Cats did demand that I turn it back on manually after the initial 15 minutes of play however. Both cats played with it for 30 minutes straight. I would definitely buy this item again. ... show more

I have tried every single brand of this spinning cat toy prior to this. They each had major issues like grinding loud gears, broken gears, a flimsy toy that my cats would rip off immediately, weak gears that stop spinning even on carpet, or a sheet that flips up way too easily and needs to be fixed constantly. And they all took batteries including the ridiculous giant D batteries! My cats really wanted to play with them however so I kept trying to get one that would work thinking I was just unlucky. I finally scrolled down a bit on this website and found this one! I guess it didn’t catch my eye at first because it is a little more expensive but my god it is worth it for quality! And realistically it is NOT more expensive because you won’t need to buy batteries! It’s USB-C chargeable and if you have a long cord it works while charging. And it can turn on every couple hours by itself so my cats can play while I’m out! So yeah… I’ve tried them all and this is the only one I would recommend. It spins fast too and isn’t flimsy. Most importantly, my cats love this thing and the price isn’t bad. It’s very nice that it’s rechargeable too, and seems to last about a week on a full charge. I took away a star for what seems like a misleading description as well as some possibly minor quality issues which may or may not be noticed by others. On description, I don’t believe it to be in any way motion activated. From what I can tell, it comes on for 15min, stops for 3 hours, then comes on again for 15min, and so on. Sure it activates motion in the cats! But it doesn’t seem to happen in reverse. Regarding quality, my cats occasionally manage to get the feather toy from the underside loose at least once a week. Then we have to hunt it down and reattach it. There should be a more secure attachment like the one for the top toy. The feature toy has held up well so far, however the top butterfly toy barely has anything left of it and it’s only seen a couple of weeks of use. All in all, it still recommend it, just know that you may need to replace the toy attachments fairly soon. ... show more

Our 6 kittens love this toy. As soon as they hear it or see me turn it on, they all pounce on it. They like to run at it from across the room and slide into it like it's home plate lol. I don't think it's noisy. The cover is a nylon type of material, so it sounds like rubbing on a windbreaker jacket, but that's the most noise it makes. Some people can't stand that sound, so that may be why some think it's noisy. The yellow(slow) speed is a bit calm for our kitties, they like the red(fast) & purple(random) speeds best, but they love it no matter what speed, as long as it's moving. The only improvement I'd suggest would be to make the delay for when it turns back on again to be adjustable. 2-3 hours is just too long in between play times, at least for our very active kittens, so I manually turn it back on every hour or so. It would be great if you could have a slider switch to adjust the delay frequency, or better to just have it turn back on when the cats hit it. With how frequently we run it, I maybe charge it about every 3 days. I just plug it in when I put the kittens to bed, so it's all ready for play in the morning. I do really like that the toy will run while plugged in. Some devices won't run while charging, but this toy does, which I think is great. I missed charging it once and it died mid-day, so it was great to be able to leave it plugged in and they could still play with it while it was charging. A fun option would be different cover designs you could buy. It would be cool to have seasonal designs, holidays, funny characters, etc. As well, to be able to buy different toy attachments to swap with the feather and/or butterfly would be fun too. Personally, I don't like feather toys because the kittens like to eat them, and I don't want them to choke, so different non-feather toys to attach would be cool. Regardless, it's an excellent toy as it is, and I would buy it again for my kitties, or to give as a gift to someone with cats. Highly recommended! ... show more

Overall this product is worth the purchase, but with the price I expected it to last a little longer. Pros: my cat loves this toy. She is very prey driven and loves to "hunt". I appreciate an automated timer. Once activated by the button the toy will be on for 15 minutes, when it turns off it will automatically turn on after three hours. The battery life is very good in my opinion. I noticed needing to charge it about every three days. Cons: it is loud. The material that hides the feathers is synthetic and "swishy". I can sometimes hear it activate in my bedroom with the door closed when the toy is ~15 feet away. Also, this toy did not work on my -pile carpet and needed to be command stripped down to laminate due to my cat sprinting down the hall to play with it. I suggest using Velcro strips so you can remove it to charge. And again, I expected this to last at least 6 months before motor failure. ... show more
