  • Ease of use, reliable performance, and features that offer peace of mind.
Style: 4K 8MP
The media could not be loaded. My father wanted a security camera for the home. We live in Florida so a solar camera would be perfect. I wanted to prioritize ease of use, reliability, and features that enhance safety and security without a lot of fuss. We have been pleasantly surprised with the results of this solar camera. In my opinion this is the best solar camera for an elderly parent due to ease of use, reliable performance, and features that offer peace of mind. I love the fact it follows the movement so my parents do not have to use the PTZ function the camera does it automatically. The clarity of the video is phenomenal. I only have one quirk, I wish the manufacturer would put a matching QR code sticker in the book for that specific camera. My mom accidentally deleted her app so before I could reload it, I had to get out the ladder and scan the top of the camera with the app. This is the only way I knew how to reload the camera, if there is a better way maybe someone could let me know. (at the time we only had it on her phone). I have since put it on both of my parents phones so I could share if that should happen again. ... show more

  • Surprisingly awesome
Style: 5MP
I was not expecting to love this camera. Having the ability to pan while being solar worried me that power consumption would be an issue. I tested the camera by getting it to a full charge and then removing the solar panel entirely. With active storage to a 128 GB micro sd card, it was able to have perform motion capture with audio to disk for 2.5 days (having the camera facing our back door and taking the dog to and from the back yard throughout the day). The quality of audio and video is awesome, and the infrared LEDs are brighter than cameras I've had in the past. I would expect clarity up to 30 feet in the dark, but not more than that (easily supplemented by an infrared spotlight to span a long driveway in my case). Setup was super easy using your cellphone with a QR code scan by your phone, and then using the camera scanning a similar QR code that pops up on your phone. The whole activation took about 2 minutes. There is a second Type-C USB connector for charging in-house, or supplementing if you have another solar panel ramped down to 5V. I was also pleasantly surprised to see how well the housing held up under heavy rain. In lieu of putting it under an eave, I place it between two of the joists of our pergola. Lastly, and best of all, I went into my existing Reolink NVR PoE setup and clicked rescan after making sure the new solar camera was on the same network, and it showed right up. Just be aware, you will not get rolling video to disk the way you do with the PoE, but it is arguably better. Not only does the motion capture work well, but the snippet are somehow labeled with a paw when animals are detected. A raccoon showed up on our porch, and a little paw icon was stamped on the video snippet and in the video samples that show up in the playback tool, which is also available through the NVR interface. If you have a PoE solution watching the perimeter of your home, parking one of these things high in a tree as a failsafe would be a great idea for additional peace-of-mind. Will be buying a few more in the coming months. See the attached screenshot from the phone interface (black and white because infrared was active). Note the raccoon going toward my pool and the paw icon in the highlighted clip. The next two clips were me going out the backdoor (no animals present). Great job, Reolink. ... show more

  • not bad
Style: 5MP
I've had this for a couple of months now. Not tested under cold conditions so I can't rate that portion.. If your internet connection is under 10MPS than I probably wouldn't recommend it as controlling PTZ funtions remotely is difficult The solar portion works better than expected. Unit always remains %100 power. On occasion if you lose internet connection you'll need to reset the unit manually as it doesn't recover the wifi connection automatically. By the time you get push notications of motion the individual has already passed by. I think it might be 10-15 seconds too slow to send the push notifications. Overall I'm happy with it and hopefully it makes it through a Colorado winter. ... show more

  • It works on 5g wifi, Weather Proof
Style: 5MP
I absolutely love this camera , I just ordered a 2nd, it stays charged with solar panel. Sound is great, picture is clear. Hooks up to my 5g wifi, this was the selling point for me. It started about 40ft away from my router it worked but I was a little worried so I moved my wifi router closer. It rotates great, and I can check on my horses from anywhere even states away on vacation as long as I have atleast 1 bar of service. Weather Proof. I live in MI. I did compare cameras but most are the 2.4g wifi and I bought this model w/o the sd card and then just bought the Amazon cheaper card. I didn't go with any subscription it saves to the sd card for 7 days. I wanted to check quality before i invested. Still learning all the alerts. Overall this is a great buy. ... show more

  • Nice camera system with decent interface BUT....
Style: 4K 8MP
The Reolink camera is very nice, easy to set up and the interface is fairly easy to use, with storage being local and not requiring a subscription to keep files. Pan/Tile/Zoom (PTZ) speed is decent with an expected momentary delay. The biggest downfall with this camera system so far, is the true lack of motion detection. The motion detection range (even on the most sensitive setting) is so close to the camera that it renders this function almost useless. If you're looking for an early warning camera system, this is not the one for you, but if you want a system you can check remotely and view around the area; this is very nice. ... show more
