This PTZ has met my expectations so far. The build is stong and robust. The entire housing is metal. Very easy to set up and use. Camera quality is amazing. I set it up on a 70" monitor and the detail is impressive. I can zoom in to 400ft away and the video is not blurry. Night time video as well is clear. As a heads up, I own multiple Reolink 823A 16-X and 823A POE cameras, of which meet my needs. The Reolink RLC-823S2 camera's design is beautiful including the adjustable mounting bracket. The camera design is slightly diffrent than the 823-A 16X however, Pet, Human and Vehicle detection is virtually non-existent with the RLC-823S2. My sensitivity settings for motion detection were 47, and Smart Detection for People, Pets and Vehicles were set at 💯. I installed and ran the camera for 24 hours outdoors in 50° dry weather. In my specific lighting conditions at night, the color night vision is excellent with Infrared turned off. The camera led spot lights work very well however, regardless of day or night, the Reolink RLC-823S2 camera rarely tracks slow moving People, Animals and Vehicles at distances between 5-70ft. When the camera does decide to track objects, it will normally stop ✋️ and loose the slow moving subject matter or while tracking, will overshoot the object vertically and horizontally. Also, there is no function as advertised, to chose an object to focus on, lock onto it and quickly zoom into the object while maintaining the object in full view and focus. Also, there is no Frame Rate Option for "Gradual." Reolink Customer Care stated they would notify Reolink Engineers of my concerns. I returned the camera and purchased the RLC-823A 16X. ... show more

I bought this camera over the other Reolink high zoom camera because of the addition of spot lights. The only options to use the spotlights are to turn them on and off manually, or to have them on a schedule. There is not option to have them turn on with any alarm event such as motion, person, or animal detection. I emailed Reolink and they have no plans to add this feature, as they have decided IR lights work better, which defeats the purpose of me purchasing this camera as a deterrent to anyone entering my property at night. This is a review for REOLINK RLC-823S2, Smart 4K/8MP UHD PTZ Dome Security Camera with Cutting-Edge 16X 3D Optical Zoom, Spotlights Color Night Vision, Person/Vehicle/Animal Detection, Two-Way Audio, 24/7 Recording. This is an okay camera but I do not believe any of the advertised features actually are on this one. The video quality is good and the night vision is good as well but, after playing with the sensitivities, I was not able to get it to detect anything so, inherently, the tracking does not work either. I will continue to use it but it will just have to be a movable but stationary camera in my array of cameras. ... show more

    • Good camera but you need to do handstands to get ONVIF/RTSP/HTTP[s] access
By default only port 9000 tcp is open on the camera which is for a ReoLink specific access port; all the other cameras I have aren't configured this way. You need to use a Windows or Mac with the ReoLink software to enable HTTP[S] / ONVIF / RTSP. Once enabled you can then pull / view footage off the SD card and change resolutions / frame-rates as usual. Note that the phone app [Android at least; likely iphone a well] doesn't offer advanced network configuration. Yet to review the low-light capabilities; the wide aperture lens is what attracted me to this particular model. [ Took forever to get the camera going as I had to find a PC to run the software ] ... show more
