Style Name: Curling Jelly Bundle
Let's start with my hair type: I have 3A/3B fine curly hair. It is also thin (I don't have very much hair). My hair is about bra-strap length, and is not color treated. My hair tends to be dry (like most curly hair) and is a compete frizzy mess without some serious conditioner, leave-in conditioner and some sort of hold product (gel, mousse, cream, etc). I'm constantly on the hunt for "miracle" products for my hair. Product: Packaging: The packaging on this is nice. I LOVE when hair products have a pump on the bottle. No squeezing a bottle or scooping stuff out of a jar. The pump works well and pumps out a good amount of product per pump (not too much, not too little). Consistency: Okay, this stuff is like buggers. It is kinda slimy and slippery. It is perfect! It glides through curly hair super nicely. Smell: I like the smell! It is mildly coconutty. The smell isn't strong and it dissipates when the hair is dry. How I use it: After showering, I apply a leave in conditioner (right now this one: Renpure Coconut Creme Cowash Cleansing Conditioner, 16 Ounce , one pump). I then brush through my hair soaking wet. I turn my head upside down and rub one 1 pump of this product in my hands and "finger comb" through the front of my hair. Then I do the same to the back of my hair. Then I use a microfiber towel to scrunch the water out of my hair. I then apply 1-2 more pumps of this product to my hair via scrunching. I then very loosely "plop" my hair (you tube it if you want to know what this is) for ~10 minutes while I get dressed and apply make-up. I then let my hair down and either air dry, or diffuse my roots for a few minutes. My hair is usually dry in ~2 hours if I allow it to air dry. This product does leave a bit of crunch in my hair. Now there are tons of people complaining about crunch in the reviews for this. People! Crunch is not bad! Crunch means you have achieved a "hair cast" for your curls, and they will look awesome! I just use my hands to "scrunch out the crunch", and I'm left with amazing soft, well formed, non-frizzy curls. If your hair is super crunchy, you likely used too much product. For second day hair (yes, second day!) I just use a spray bottle with water to lightly mist my hair. I then take one pump of this stuff and smooth it over the outside of my hair to tame any crazy frizzy hairs. I love love love this product. I'm contemplating buying several more bottles at once, because usually once I find something I like they discontinue it! However, I think this bottle will last a long time!     • Great for my 4a hair wash and go styles. Virtually eliminates shrinkage.
Style Name: Curling Jelly Bundle
This stuff is awesome for my 4a, thick, natural, never chemically altered hair. I have never really been able to achieve a curly wash-and-go style without experiencing at least 70% shrinkage by the time my hair is done air drying, and many products designed to help eliminate shrinkage for wash-and-go wearers have the down-side of make it take up to 3x as long for your hair to air dry. I used the Renpure Coconut Whipped Creme Leave-In Conditioner together with the Renpure Coconut Creme Curling Jelly Styling and get a beautiful. elongated, bouncy, curly wash-and-go with only about 10 - 20% shrinkage. Plus, it doesn't lengthen the time it takes for my hair to air dry - in fact it seems to dry more quickly. Using both products does make my hair a bit "crunchy", but applying a bit of olive oil after it's dry (and on 2nd and 3rd day hair) not only eliminates the crunch, but gives me springing, bouncy hair. I haven't yet attempted a wash-and-go with the leave-in alone. This is how I've used this product: wash and condition my hair in the shower (I put my hair into about 8 braids for washing), then towel dry minimally. Divide my hair into about 8 - 10 sections and apply a quarter sized amount of the Renpure Coconut Whipped Creme Leave-In Conditioner to each section (I have thick, butt-length when stretched hair, so this is the amount of product that I need to use). I apply it in a downward motion from root-to-tip; only moving in that one direction. Then, I comb through each section with a regular-tooth comb to make sure there aren't any tangles. At this point with just the Renpure Coconut Whipped Creme Leave-In Conditioner my hair will feel very soft and looks shiny. I follow with the Renpure Coconut Creme Curling Jelly Styling before moving on to another section, again applying the same amount, in a downward, tugging-like motion - only moving in the downward direction. That's it. For me, it takes a bit of time before my hair will clump out into bigger spiral curls and it doesn't look like much after I first apply. I just leave it alone and allow it to air dry, and it begins to form beautiful, stretched curl clumps as it dries. Ultimately, the shrinkage factor is drastically reduced. When I press my hair straight it is butt-length, when I do a wash-and-go with this method it dries to just above waist length. In contrast, every other wash-and-go method I've used leaves me with shoulder-length at best - so I've always had to do twist sets to get a more elongated look. The 2 drawbacks of this method and product are: (1) The coconut fragrance is very noticeable. Not unpleasant, but definitely noticeable and it doesn't wear off as readily as most fragrances in hair products will. I personally like the fragrance, but I do wish it wore off a bit faster. (2) The Renpure Coconut Creme Curling Jelly Styling will leave your hair feeling "crunchy" when it dries. I haven't ever attempted to style my hair with the Renpure Coconut Whipped Creme Leave-In Conditioner alone, but the consistency on wet hair makes me think that it would remain soft. It isn't an extreme crunch like mousse, but it does feel hard. I apply olive oil once my hair it completely dry and the crunch goes away, leaving me with soft, bouncy curls. At night I put my hair in a bun, and then take down the bun and finger comb with olive oil for day 2 and day 3 if I want the wash and go to last that long. *I just received it and haven't tried it yet. I gave a one star because I expected it to smell so good, and honestly it really stinks. Once I use it is will update my review. I actually thought it was a cream but it's gel..the older I get the currier it seems to get. I wanted something that would leave my hair soft and shiny, but so far my experience has been that gels, mousse once my hair dries it has that crunchy feeling. To be continued....* I have used the product several times now and while I still CANNOT stand the smell, I have to say that I am happy with how it works. It does takes a couple times of using it to figure out how much you should use, and when you let it dry it feels just a TINY BIT crunchy but I have found that once it is completely dry I can go back in with my hands and re-scrunch it and all the stiffness goes away leaving it just as curly/wavy as it was wet. I can then use my curling iron or electric rollers as.i normally do. Once I have removed all the rollers i wait a.minute or 2 then I flip my head upside down and finger separate/comb my hair. Of course at first glance it's like "WHAT? I CAN'T HAVE THIS MUCH HAIR", but I just do a bit of straightening up and maybe smooth and wild curl here and there, then I put just a small mist of a light weight hairspray...I use it only on my bangs and top of my hair, for some reason that I am blaming on menopause my once stick straight hair is still stick straight on the top but the back and sides look I just received a perm!! I can go most times 3-4 days without having to wash and restyle my hsir, I might need a quick touch here and there with my curling iron....Nut the back of my hair looks the same as the day I styled it. I do have to say that I am not certain if i would purchase it again because of the smell. I expected tropical, coconut etc. and I can't find a hint of coconut in it. ... show more
