I paired this sub with my 1960 Altec speakers and McIntosh amp. It sounds terrific so I purchased another. Previously, I had purchased the HUGE SVS 4000 but returned it. No comparison with the REL in my system. I didn’t like the sound of the SVS for my purposes. LOVE the REL!!!

Got some help and then silence...... Had a "Hummm" sound at initial hook up when all the equipment was off. Contacted the tech support @ REL a day or two later got someone to email me back suggesting move this, hook up this, run wires this way and that way. So I did all the things and it has never has it quit gone away. So I tried contacting tech support again and have not heard a single thing back. The sub sounded great and was expecting to buy another one to have the "full room effect" but the hummmm from one sub drives me nuts to the point I unplugged it and haven't touch it in months. I would say I had it plugged in and in use for 1month out of the 7months. I mark it up as a bad investment. As I cant get any support on this unit. I ordered two of the t9x's for my office system, after being sick of the crappy Dayton 120watt sealed 12's I had in there. My office system consists of an older Yamaha CX-A5100, Emotiva XPA 5, and Polk LSim 703's/center/surrounds. It took around 15minutes to get these adjusted perfectly to match the Polks via the provided high pass cables. My main system downstairs has (2) REL 212/SX's so all the hours of messing around and getting those setup made these a breeze. Once dialed in, you will hear the bass coming from your speakers, and it's the most amazing thing when the subs disappear, that's when you know it's setup right. They coupled really well with the Polk's, and I swear that in room response is much, much better than REL's 27hz stat, as these things can move some air and dig deep. My favorite part of these REL's and all the higher end REL's really is their ability to play low notes with the volume turned down. My kids can be sleeping at the end of the hallway, yet I can still get full frequency response at low volumes without waking them up. Most subs seem to need the volume turned up for them to really start rocking, but these are just sublime with low to mid volume. When turned up they play damn loud and will rattle the crap out of my office/walls/windows/etc., but you can find the limits of the woofer's excursion. For those looking for even more output though, the 510's or 812's are nuts and the 212/sx's that I have are that next level again. Window shattering, sheet rock peeling bass, while still being able to play those barely audible extremely low notes at low volumes as well. These performed as I expected them to, and my expectations are pretty sky high. They output the same tonal quality of my 212's, with just less output, nice work REL!!!! ... show more

I don’t know how this subwoofer does it but it adds presence in the mid range all the way down. It adds mid range clarity and fills in all the holes that my speakers have. I have weight with snare drums and goosebumps inducing deep bass. I’ll be buying a second one for stereo subs. That should be interesting! ... show more

This sub is filling my 10x15 feet living room with a fast punchy and precise bass when using the Speakon cable. Needs breaking in period though and that’s fine with me. :)
