Our toaster that we spent a hundred dollars on less than 2 years ago stopped working well, stopped making toast --- imagine that a toaster that can't even do its basic job that cost $100 and was less than 2 years old! So after finally getting tired of having to attempt to toast a slice of bread about 3 times on the highest level to get something resembling a toasted surface I began searching for a replacement. This Redmond 4-slice toaster, which cost half as much as our previous toaster, that was not a Redmond, it was made by a company whose first letter in their company name is much closer to the beginning of the alphabet, cannot hold a candle, or a well toasted slice of bread compared this this costing half as much Redmond 4-slice toaster! We like the look of it. The controls. Everything. It tells you how long until your toast will be ready depending on how dark or light you dialed it up, and the dial clicks very nicely along in place. And the best part? It actually makes toast! Imagine that!? It actually toasts both side of a slice of bread evenly and about over the whole surface of the ice of bread. It's incredible. A toaster these days that actually can make toast! We hope it lasts longer than 2 years, but even it only lasts 2 years like most products made across the Pacific Ocean in a communist country it'll be a better value, better toast that that $100 one from a different company, whose name begins with the same letter as the communist country making both of these toasters. Hey, I wanted to buy an American made toaster. Good luck finding one, and if you do? For under a couple of hundred dollars if you find one. I looked. And don't be fooled by the ones with European brand names, because almost every single one of those are also made in the communist country making the majority of products we now are offered and have to buy. Sad, sad age we live in. But this Redmond makes good toast. So that at least is a good thing to be thankful for. A good value compared to the $100 toaster that stopped making toast about 18 months after it was bought and first plugged in. ... show more

I've had this toaster for a year now and it's been great. Defrost and bagel settings work as expected. It has gotten daily use for over a year and no issues. It's not perfect. The crumbs can get stuck, but a little shake and it gets cleaned with a little effort. I haven't found a toaster that's any easier to use. The stainless looks nice in the kitchen and you do have to wash it now and then from finger prints. A good buy if you need 4 slots. ... show more

    • Learning curve ahead...
This is a pretty good toaster for a fair price. We wanted a basic toaster that didn't have alot of tech built into it...sturdy and dependable. This one is good, but definitely not the same quality as our OLD Cuisinart; but we've tried several of their recent products and were disappointed, hence buying this Redmond toaster. The cord on this toaster is a little wimpy for a heating appliance IMO, but it works. The metal of the toaster is lighter weight than the ones we've previously owned. As far as functioning goes, this toaster has a learning curve when it comes to toasting your bread the way you like it. At first I burned quite a few pieces on the edge...now i'm doing better. What I DO like about the toaster is that its simple...and I love the countdown feature. It does cook the toast consistently, once you find your sweet spot for toasting your own bread. So far its doing pretty well, but we had a rocky start. And the pop-up function is quiet. Thank you for a simple product...without a bunch of bells and whistles. The only thing that I really have to admit that I don't like about this toaster in particular, is the less-than adequate protection of the lowering apparatus in relation to the heating elements: it allows too much open space for things to fall through to the heating elements, especially when it pops up. In other words, Pop-tarts can fall between the lowering basket and the heating elements. I know Pop-tarts are made for the toaster, but please be especially careful trying to remove the broken pieces if they get stuck: UNPLUG it and use great care while dislodging any broken Pop-tart pieces from the heating elements. I think my biggest concern here is for kids who make their own snacks in the toaster and aren't fully aware of the dangers of digging things out of an electrical appliance. ... show more

I have FINALLY found a toaster that does what I want it to do. The temp control is accurate, it toasts the WHOLE piece of bread from top to bottom and side to side, the 'bagel' & "thaw" settings actually work, it accepts my longer Italian breads. I've returned toasters that failed on one or more of those points! The digital timer is not really necessary, but it can be helpful while making breakfast. Chrome exterior is very easy to clean. One thing...the exterior surface does get pretty warm. THIS is finally the toaster I needed. And after a lot of lousy toasters for near the same price, this one is a winner and I'm finally pleased. **EDIT** After 2+ months of daily use for bagels, Eng muffins, toast, and toaster waffles, even burger & hotdog buns, I can honestly say this one is the best toaster I've ever owned.     • Toasts to perfection!
This toaster makes perfect toast - even all around both sides and perfectly crispy. It's really superior. When I first ordered this, it toasted only one side of the bread so I returned it. Their customer service informed me it was under warranty and sent me a new one at no charge. Now, the toast is absolutely perfect, better than I could hope for. The toast is perfectly even on both sides. Better than my cuisinart toaster. And, this toaster is visually gorgeous, and the timer on the side is wonderful. Great product and a great company.
