This is a really nice combo. I had no Spey rig prior to this one. I will use this on some upcoming larger water trips and add to the review. For now I will use it on some bass fishing trips to throw a bit larger streamers. I practiced with this in the yard and the action is fantastic even if my SPEY casting attempts were terrible. I will improve. Assuming you are familiar with Redington products than you will know they are quality in general so I was not surprised. The reel is VERY nice and a great compliment to the rod. The rod is well made and all the eyelets and junctions are very well made. The cork handle is very nice and not extremely porous like some cheaper rods I own. In general if your thinking of purchasing a SPEY rod, this is a nice package. The kit comes with everything but flies/streamers that you will need to start your adventure. the Reel is loaded, and it comes with sinking line and a leaders I showed the kit to one of my fly fishing friends and he was impressed enough to buy one from the supplied link I gave him. ... show more

Haven’t used the rod for any real fishing… but I can say that just messing around it is a supe nice set. The rod is so lightweight for its length and responsive to slight changes in casting. I ordered the 3WT kit and it’s perfect for a pond-hopper panfish combo. The kit has everything except flies needed to get started. Make a run to Orvis or Bass Pro to get some flies and you’ll be set. Having a few 4wt and 5wt rods, I already more than enough nymphs and woolly buggers to compliment this kit. The reddington casts very smoothly and bluegill and smaller bass feel like a great fight on this 3wt rod. This is a beautiful rod and reel combo that comes with prespooled fly lines and also includes leaders to attach. All you need to get you started is some tippit and Flys and your.off to the races. The reel unspools easily and the adjustable drag works great when fighting that monster trout. The carry case has a hard pvc tube and a pocket for each individual rod piece and a reel cove as well.
