Description

The Red Lion RL-SPRK200 230 Volt, 2 HP sprinkler irrigation pump is idea for both residential and commercial lawn and turn sprinkling systems. This pump features a rugged cast iron casing, high efficiency thermoplastic impeller and diffuser and is to easy to prime to 25-ft - no additional priming is required after the initial fill. This pump is not designed for 115 Volts and does not come with a cord. The pump must be wired into a 230 Volt power source. If pump is not performing to specifications, ensure pump is connected to 230 Volt power source.

I was amazed once the pump was primed, at how much volume of water I had! 1 tip to all; purchase a clear PVC inline check-valve mounted in a vert position. With the see-through Check valve, it was easy to verify flow and proper prime. No issues at all. Bought this to replace a pump that didn't survive the winter for our lawn irrigation, and it seems to do a great job so far. It pushes up hill over about a 60' rise over and about 400' to the furthest head, and can run eight heads simultaneously without a problem. But, it's surprisingly NOT weatherproof, and you have to shelter it from the rain. I love that it has a single plug at the lowest point on the pump for draining when winter comes, and since that was what killed the original, overall I'm very happy. My previous 20 year old pump died, replaced it with this 2HP pump. Very powerful and sturdy. Installation was pretty easy if you can do basic plumbing and electrical work, took about 30mins. Highly recommended.

Just got this installed for my sister on her sprinkler system (in part since her old plastic pump got busted at the outlet port). So far it's going good, but was a bit hard to get primed and going. For her system, everything is uphill to the yard from a canal behind the house, yet the high inlet on this allows an air pocket to exist in it (rather than allowing water to flow down back-filling everything). I have "banjo" fittings for connecting the suction line where I had to crack it to bleed air 3 times before it got going (letting it run at least 30 seconds between each bleed to try it, but not let it go long). Once primed, it seems to be doing well where even with 2 of her sprinkler circuits going at the same time (from a valve not closing) it didn't drop pressure and all ratcheting sprinklers were still moving (with old 1.5HP pump there would be pressure drop in such conditions). Now to hope it can keep going and handle the typical dirt/debris from such a water source. ... show more

Like the pump, straight forward hookup. Pulled prime easily. May have to spray paint it a softer color. Bright red sticks out boldly by the side of the house. Pleased with pump.

This pump replaced a 2 HP lake pump for my sprinkler system. The old pump was over 15 years old and was still available to purchase, although the price was over $1,200. The Red Lion pump was 1/3 of the cost and was exactly like the old pump in that it was the same size, easy to install and 230 volt. It runs with very low noise and pumps the water from the lake to 9 zones and over 50 sprinkler heads with great pressure. Shim impeller to about .030 use feeler gauge begin impeller to face plate. Put shims in too set in place. I read all reviews, seemed good. I ordered the 2 hp pump for my home garden. Installed pump. Pressure would not go over 20 lbs. pump would not run 1 sprinkler. I contacted Frog Supply. They asked a lot of questions about install. Pump was installed correctly. I have an inexpensive 1/2 hp pump that I had been using. It works way better than the Red Lion 2hp pump. I requested a refund. Frog Supply charges a 10-40% restock fee and you cannot install the pump. If I did not install it I would not know it does not WORK. I will NEVER purchase another item from Frog Supply & am seriously thinking about stopping purchasing from Amazon. ... show more
