UPDATE I'd be remiss if I didn't update my review. I have increased my rating to three stars (from one). I was not able to cleanly remove the massive warning label but another purchaser/user figured out that the bottom aluminum tube can be taken off and put on with the label-side facing the window (thank you very much Lorraine Collier for your suggestion). The seller should re-take all of the product photos WITH the label included and post those instead of the current photos on the Amazon product page because having the massive warning sticker on them completely changes their aesthetic; i.e. makes them ugly. It would be no different if the seller spray-painted vulgarities using red paint on the blinds and sold them that way without showing it in the pictures. Seller: please be aboveboard and post pictures that accurately represent the product as it will be received by the purchaser. I am taking one star off my review for this. Other than the label, the fabric looks nice/appealing and has a very effective blackout layer on the back, which is also gray in color and thus looks good when the blind is rolled up. I deducted another star from my rating because the top of the blind roller and attachment brackets are quite ugly. All horizontal blinds come with a valence to cover the top from view. These do not. So, in order to make them look good, I'm going to have to fabricate my own valence, paint, and install it, which is extra work. One more point, the retention bracket (clear plastic) for the draw-cable does not work well. It should be a pulley mechanism, which would be cheap to fabricate (for the seller). Instead, it's a rigid plastic piece that the chain has to grind over as it's pulled up and down. It generates a lot of friction, noise, and makes operation of the blinds challenging. It's not worth installing. //---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------// I bought three and installed one so far. If these worked out, I planned to buy a dozen more. However, they have a very large ugly white sticker on the aluminum tube on the bottom. I tried but wasn't able to peel it off cleanly. It left a mess of paper and sticky residue behind, which will quickly collect dust, lint, and dog fur. It can't be scraped off with razor blade because the tube is round; doing so would damage the aluminum finish anyways. If the seller can tell me how to remove this sticker cleanly (and in less than 30 seconds), I will keep all three blinds. Otherwise, I'm returning them. Note to seller: this is completely ridiculous. Customers shouldn't have to spend 30 minutes scrubbing your product with Scotchpad and acetone just to make it look decent. ... show more

For years, I had an ugly plaid blanket hanging on my bedroom window to block out the light. I should have invested in this shade long ago. Old farmhouse windows come in random sizes so it's amazing that these can be made to your specifications. Great quality for the price too. This is very sturdy and will last for years.
