  • Beautifully Well Built Press
Style: Ammo Reloading Press
The quality of this single stage press makes Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson seem flimsy. It's built like a tank, works excellently well, and it's easy to use. Whether you're just starting out in the reloading world or you/re a veteran reloader and need/want a single stage press, this one is perfect. My only complaint is the design of the plastic primer catcher. Once I've deprimed a lot of brass, I have to carefully pry the primer catcher off the press. If you don't do it slowly and carefully, the catcher will pop off the press and send primers flying all over. But, this press is still worth every penny. ... show more

  • Finally got the best.
Style: Ammo Reloading Press
I’ve wanted one of these for many years after being talked into something cheaper. I came across this one and with the price it was now the time to get one. I’ve used them that belong to friends and knew how superior they are to a Lee.

  • Well made, heavy duty press
Style: Ammo Reloading Press
I got this press in a few weeks ago and I've used it quite a bit. I've had an old RCBS Jr since the early 70's and the ram is as snug as it ever was but after tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition loaded through it, it was self polished so smoothly that the handle would fall driving the ram up which was not only aggravating but could result in pinched fingers. The handle of the old press sticks out away from the press at an angle so it could fall and was also somewhat in the way when not actively using it. The handle of this press lays back toward the press so it won't fall from it's own weight and it's out of the way. The Amazon photo shows the press leaning forward, not the way it's actually mounted so it's a little misleading. I got a Forster press a couple of years ago and it's also a great press but, without a lot of boring detail, I needed a conventional press for some jobs including some large cased cartridges. This one is well made and well finished. At least at one point, my understanding is that the casting for the press was done in China and the rough casting was machined and finished in the USA. I don't know if the casting is still made in China or not. The press was labeled made in USA. In any case mine is well finished and operates smoothly. It's a big, solid press - honestly probably overkill if you're not loading some fairly large cases. It makes for a long stroke of the handle to raise the ram. Incidentally one gripe I've heard of this press is that the casting is so sorry they have to put in a steel insert to screw the die into. Not so. That black insert is a reducer or adapter for the standard 7/8" X 14 TPI dies. Screw that adapter out and the press will take the 1 1/4" X 12 dies for cartridges based on the 50 BMG cartridge. Much ink has been spilled about the primer seater. While I have other options for seating primers, I have used the seater on this press and I find it works just fine. In fact I like it better than the one on my old RCBS JR. I think I do like the one on the Forster better. And the "horrendous" primer catcher I read about - mine works as it's supposed to 90% of the time or better. I've actually counted the number of times the primers has popped out of the catcher - 5 to 10% of the time. That said my loading is done out in a workshop with a concrete floor so if a spent primer falls on the floor it gets swept up with the sawdust and what ever else may be on the floor. If you want absolute control of your spent primers cause the wife doesn't like spent primers in the carpet, get a Forster - seriously. The Rock Chucker Supreme a good press. I like it. It's big, heavy, solid and will do the job. ... show more

  • Solid as a rock!
Style: Ammo Reloading Press
I am fortunate to have a few stores locally that have mounted presses on display. This made it possible to handle all the products I was considering before making a purchase. These were the Hornady Lock-N-Load, Redding Big Boss II, and of course the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme. Of these single stage presses, it was very easy to narrow it down to the Redding Big Boss II, and the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme. The Hornady Lock-N-Load press was removed from consideration because it has a smaller opening, smaller ram diameter, and uses the Hornady die bushing insert, something I don't want. The RCBS and Redding are very similar in build quality and I would probably be just as happy using the Redding as I am using the RCBS. They both operate very smoothly, and are extremely overbuilt. It's hard to imagine a situation where someone could destroy either of these presses using them as intended. Ultimately, I decided on the Rock Chucker Supreme because it went on sale, making it ~$75 less than the Redding. PROS: -Extremely overbuilt. -Extremely smooth operation. -Ambidextrous design. -Cam-over design. -American made. That's right! I see a lot of misinformation regarding where this RCBS press is made. The box indicates it's made in the USA, so that's what I'm going by unless someone can provide evidence otherwise. -Fantastic customer support. CONS: -Depriming setup is terrible. I don't deprime on my main presses, so it's a non-issue for me. But keep this in mind if you plan to use this press for that. The plastic spent primer catcher just pinches on the press and is tedious to remove without spilling primers. -RCBS only includes one primer arm assembly, for both size primer cups. This means you have to take apart the primer assembly to switch between large and small primers. It's tedious and time consuming. Or you could contact RCBS like I did, and have them send you the parts for another complete primer assembly. Parts were sent to me free of charge, and now switching between large and small primers is super easy. They should just include two assemblies in the box. For those that are wondering why I didn't consider the Lee Classic Cast press, it's simple. I already own the Lee Classic Turret press, and I knew it was not what I wanted for my "cadillac" single stage press. To elaborate, Lee sells two versions of the Classic Cast press. The original version deprimes through the 1.125" hollow tube ram. See my review of the Classic Turret press for images of this. I wanted a solid ram for tough rifle sizing and swager use. The newer Breech Lock Classic Cast press has a solid ram, but requires the use of Breech Lock die bushings, which I don't want. Then there are other reasons, such as the linkage is not as smooth as other brands due to an angled design that uses a wave washer. Also, the primer setup is not what I was looking for. Then, the press design makes it difficult to use the RCBS swager combo tool. And just in general, while I do like Lee products and own quite a few, they lack the refined quality I was looking for in a single stage press. I have loaded hundreds of rounds using this Rock Chucker press without any issues. It was a good purchase that I highly recommend. ... show more
