  • Works on an Arex Rex Zero 1
Style: Heavy-Duty
Been needing a sight pusher for a while now. Decided to go big or go home. This is pricey, but well built. Looks nice too, and is easy to use. It supports a large variety of pistol slides due to the adjustable clamps. The height of the pusher itself adjusts so that you can get the most real estate on the sight without hitting the slide. It even fit my Arex Rex Zero1, which has a tall and wide slide. As far as pros vs cons, the pros outweigh the cons. Pros: -Well built -Easy to use (sight pusher handle is large and needs no tools) -Pleasant to look at -Multiple clamping spots (4 on the slide sides, and 3 on the top with one that adjusts to accodmadate for slide height.) -Pusher has 2 different faces that you can flip to depending on your sight shape. (flat and angled, for sights like glocks, or in my case Arex.) -Guide lines on bottom where your slide would rest to help you determine if you've clamped down evenly on the slide. -Took a very hard cranking. My back sights on the Rex Zero1 were tight as sin, but even after seriously tightening it, the pusher held up. Cons -While the side clamps are rubber, they seemed hard enough to leave a mark in the finish in the shape of the clamp end. I now use a few cloth cleaning squares to prevent the pads from contacting the slide. Your mileage may vary, as I did have to crank very hard on my Arex to the the back sight off, possibly pushing it into that pad harder than others. -Not a con for me, but if you wanted this to stand still on it's own, it has no way of mounting to anything built in. And that's it. Don't know about the longevity of it, but it's held up good on two pistols so far. Hopefully it stays that way. ... show more

  • P226 e2 grip approved!
Style: Heavy-Duty
First off, it works!!!! I use it for my sig sauer p226 with the e2 grip. I tried the other sight tool and it didn’t work. This tool is very well constructed. It’s height adjustability allows it to work on most if not all guns in my opinion. Moreover as the video shows, it doesn’t grip right below the front sights, which is good because some gun, including my p226, run parallel from the back but near the front it caves inward so if the holding pins grabs onto that, it will not be straight. Although it is expensive, it works and there isn’t much options out there. There are more expensive ones that probably do the same job. And I don’t feel like using a punch and hammer because that just becomes annoying trying to hammer just right to get the sight where you want it. This is simple and again, it works! As far as protecting gun details, i found that using 4 piece of felt pad for the pins was all that is necessary. The top and bottom won’t scratch the gun. The pusher might scratch the sight but I feel like it’s more important to be able to see point of contact than protecting the gun from scratches, especially since it’s only the sight. However I haven’t seen any scratches yet but I imagine several uses and pushes will make scratches on the sight, which I don’t care about as it adds character. I mean, better to scratch the sight than the slide. Anyway, i digress. Great tool that works! ... show more

  • Best sight Pusher I've used so far
Style: Heavy-Duty
I have a lot of handguns and I change the sites. Periodically. I have used a couple of different site pushers most recently the vism which worked okay but you really have to be careful with that one because it's hard to set up precisely. The wheeler pusher is much easier to set up and worked perfectly for me. I changed the factory sites to truglo tritium pros on a sig Sauer and a Springfield XD. Both went flawlessly. I used a lubricant and let it sit for 15 minutes before I started working. Go slow. Chapter 4 once in awhile to make sure it's okay and if anything starts to look funky just stop and reset everything. Anyone can do this it just takes patience. I was able to remove the old factory sites and install the new sites perfectly. By the way love those true Glow tritium pros. ... show more

  • Decent tool for a good price
Style: Heavy-Duty
I've had the Wheeler Engineering sight tool for just under a year now and wanted to hold off giving it a review until I ran it through several actual uses. Well, I've only replaced the sights on several Glocks, primarily because they are either our EDC or the handgun that accompanies me when I'm hunting or fishing. I first watched a few videos for tips on Youtube (wish I had a better choice than this leftist Google surrogate) then read the instructions. It pushed the factory sights out with little problem but installing the new Truglo Tritium Pro Glow sights took a little more effort. However I was able to install them with no real issues other than having to apply more torque on the hand wheel than I was expecting. Pros: Good quality for the money Does the job pretty well Fairly good construction (see cons for details). Cons: Finish of the aluminum frame block had many superficial dimples all over it so it was exchanged for a new one. The replacement unit one was fine. The threads of the hand wheel screw seem to be a semi-coarse count. Not sure of its actual count per inch or pitch but I think a finer thread count would allow for a more controlled movement with smaller increments with every turn of the hand wheel which in my opinion is ideal. I applied some Lucas gun grease to the threads with a Q-tip and it reduced the friction between the threads which really helped when additional torque is required. Here's a few tips I learned for those who may be interested. 1. Use some duct tape or other thick tape on the sides and top of your slide to protect the finish from the clamps' jaws. While the jaws of the side screws are made of aluminum and the top screw jaw is a hard polymer, they could scratch the finish if you're not careful. 2. Prior to pushing out your old sight, apply a small drop of penetrating oil such as Aero-kroil, WD40, PB Blaster, etc and let it do it's job for about 5 min with the slide turned sideways to allow gravity to pull the oil through the groves. 3. Once your old sights have been removed, clean the dove tails well with brake cleaner or similar solvent and apply a very thin layer of a good quality high pressure grease such as Lucas gun grease, etc to both the female dove tail groove in the slide and the male dove tail on the new sights. 4. If your replacing factory Glock sights with Truglo like I did then you'll have to rotate the pusher block. The factory rear sight uses the angled notch while the Truglo needs the square notch. Overall I'm pretty happy with this purchase and have and will continue to recommend the Wheeler to others. Can't give it 5 stars but a solid 4 stars is a pretty fair assessment. ... show more
