  • Fabulous product at a truly great price.
Just over 1 year ago I picked up and Android 5 version for my wife & she has been using it with no problems ever since. A short time ago I picked up an Android 6 copy & have also had constant use. It is a little light on the memory for the uses I need but it does work for what I have dedicated it to without issues. I would like to do more on it but it is only a tablet & not a full PC so light is the price paid for portability. It operates well with my wifi router as well as my MetroPCS LG Sylus hot spot in the field. Having the keyboard & USB port as well as tablet mode was a major consideration in the purchase. Kudu's for an extremely well priced & workable piece of hardware. Only good things to say about them both at this time. Just a brief update on this fabulous tablet. Both the Maven & this Galileo are still working beyond expectations. I have added the Ghost browser to both & Addblocker Plus to the Galileo, it does not work with Android 5 only 6 & up, when 7 comes out. Watching Youtube movies with Ghost jumps past the commercials which are often so loud they are really objectionable, are you listening Youtube? I have used my 4 port usb 2 hub to connect as many has 3 flash drives of various sizes, both brand & off brand, to each with no problem. I also have trouble with the small keyboard & my big fingers so I connect a full size keyboard via the hub & a trackball, when I can. In the field though as a tablet in just tablet mode & in folded tablet mode they are great. I have also used an external USB battery pack to charge when in the field when needed. With my phone hot spot, extra battery, & the convenience of these little, but large enough to see for older eyes, I just can't wait to see what they come out with next. Keep it up RCA I want to see Android 7 as soon as you can. ... show more

  • I must say that I enjoy the larger screen and keyboard on this tablet vs ...
I purchased this tablet to replace my Viking Pro that broke in Sept. I must say that I enjoy the larger screen and keyboard on this tablet vs the Viking Pro. I use this tablet primarily for wok, I have a 32gb sd card, I use a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 3500, and I purchased a Finite PU Leather Cover (fom Amazon), it went on quite easily, fits like a glove and looks great. For those wondering what apps can be used on this tablet, I normally use Microsoft 365 (paid subscription) for Android, PDF Viewer, and Box.net, Citrix GoTo Meeting App, and another free word processor app and they work really well on this tablet. I have an online based job and I do quite a bit of downloading, editing, and uploading of files, all with ease using the Galileo. I have never tried printing from this tablet so I can't really recommend any apps or share experiences with that. I do use it to stream video and listen to music I Heart Radio, Netflix, Amazon Prime, You Tube, PBS Kids apps all work well, I'd say battery life when streaming videos is about 2-3 hrs. I think the volume and speaker is better on the Galileo than the Viking Pro. Only two negatives for RCA tablets, the cameras are not that great, but that is not a deal breaker for me. The number one issue with RCA tablets is that they are easily broken, my 1 yr old knocked the Viking Pro off a TV stand onto carpeted floor, fell about 2ft, I am assuming that the Galileo is just as sensitive. This is an excellent product for the price, I would highly recommend RCA tablets, both the Viking and Galileo are awesome products. ... show more

  • Good not Great...but worth it for budget conscious
I want to give this more stars, I truly do. Pros: cheap let’s not kid ourselves. Love the keyboard and ability to detach. Light weight. Doesn’t come loaded with lots of bulk software so clean install. Setup was 2 mins. Overall for the price it is a great reader, internet browser or email machine. Other apps get bogged down a big with memory and processor but will run. Cons: Battery life is 4-6 hours on a good day. Processing power is slow at times or under load. Resolution was a kicker for me it could be so much more! ... show more

  • So inexpensive it's essentially worthless
Bottom line up front: Fresh out of the box, the tablet was unable to perform the most basic of tasks such as opening PDFs, PNGs, and word documents. It even failed to update apps from the play store or install them properly. Full review: I was in the market for an inexpensive 2n1 to use for school when I was away from home. I only needed something basic with a keyboard and this seemed to fit my needs. The problem is that it failed to meet those bare minimal requirements. The first problem I had was that it was a struggle to update apps from the Google Play store. It took several restarts and dozens of failed attempts before I was finally able to update Chrome (it was a 31mb update) along with most of the other apps. Some apps continued to fail to install their updates (such as Android System Webview) so I just moved on. It completely failed to open messenger. The app would open and as the login screen came up, a prompt telling me that the app has failed and needed to close prevented me from using it even though the cursor was flashing in the app behind it. So I installed messenger lite and moved on. It did manage to sync my google accounts pretty easily but that was the first, last, and only thing it did successfully. Attempting to open PDFs prompted me with the message "The document cannot be opened because it's not a valid pdf-document" no other device has had any issue opening the same file. At this point I'm wondering if anything worked so I just try to open different file types: docx: crashed png: barely and it struggled with zooming in and scrolling around I took a glance at the memory usage to figure out why it struggled with everything. The Android OS alone used 67% of the tablet's processing power. By this point I just accepted it as a loss, closed it and went about my day. I didn't have a lot of demands for this product being that it was only $120 but opening word docs, PDFs, and images is a pretty low standard to meet. The fact that this product couldn't even do that or even update apps properly is nothing short of embarrassing. ... show more
