  • A game that harkens back to old-school sensibilities
Platform For Display: Xbox 360
Rayman Legends is easily one of the most visually stunning games I've played with incredible audio to boot. It is not just a visual feast for the eyes or honeyed music for the ears, it is game that excels as a classic 2D platformer, continually calling to mind classic platforming games of days past. The level designs are varied and contain a mixture of the beautiful and the bizarre. Playing this game, I keep thinking of old-school, SNES greats like Donkey Kong Country or Earthworm Jim. The game has gorgeous backgrounds and immersive environments like DKC and a strange, sometimes quirky and macabre sense of humor and level design like Earthworm Jim. The underwater levels are some of the funnest since the DKCs. The level designs, once again, are an inspired mix of the kind of oddities best seen in other 90s platformers. The grungy, out of this world flair of these levels feature a world made out of rotting food where one must bounce on the visible grey matter inside open skulls, or an underwater mansion complete with robotic sentries. The game, as a collect-a-thon, will also offer plenty to keep you occupied, such as rescuing each Teensy from a world while collecting enough Lumes to win bronze, silver and gold cups to increase your "awesomeness" score. Daily and weekly challenges from Ubisoft's servers will also pit you against players from around the world as you vie for the highest score or time in challenge levels. These are quite addicting and push you to try and outperform everyone else for more cups to increase you awesomeness score. The game however is not without a few flaws, the biggest of which being the unbalanced difficulty. In this you have infinite lives. No, not infinite continues, infinites lives. No matter how many times you die on a certain area you'll never have to leave the level unless you want to and are free to try again and again without penalty. Often times I would get to the end of a level having rescued all ten of the levels Teensies and collected the 600 Lumes for the maximum score only to feel a twinge of guilt knowing that I had died several times and still got high marks. But despite the game forgiving nature, some levels are downright maddening in their difficulty. Some speed run levels which require you to move as fast as you can to get to the end seem nigh impossible to get through in time (let alone once) to rescue all the Teensies at the end. I had to stop a few times before I got frustrated and chucked my controller...again...And there's several of these levels, far too many in my opinion. Overall, the game feels unbalanced in terms of challenge. You'll find it far too easy at times and far too difficult at the others with there seldom being a happy medium. The game also features tons of unlockable characters but seeing as how each one plays exactly the same with no unique abilities it's really more of an aesthetic choice than anything with not much strategy involved other than getting good at the game. Still, overall I enjoy this game more than I do New Super Mario Bros. Wii (which I realize this game borrows heavily from). It feels new and refreshing but at the same time sweetly nostalgic. I strongly recommend this game for fans of classic 2D platforming. ... show more

Platform For Display: Xbox 360
I just got this game today the shipping was pretty quick but then again it came from Ohio that's just a hop and a skip from the state I live in but still its nice that I didnt have to wait for a week while they sent it to the whole country side. Anyway the disk I got was for a Xbox360 I know there was a lot of complaints that their game wasn't a Xbox360 game I bought mine from a different seller it came in good condition a little light scratches on the disk but its nothing to complain about it is a used game and so far it plays pretty dang good so no complaints here by no means. I appreciate the seller for giving me a good game and getting it to me on time So Thank You. And so far my husband and I are addicted to this game I pretty much have to fight him over it so I'll have a chance to play 😂 its a good buy worth every penny don't hesitate just buy the game you'll love it ... show more

  • Platforming Perfection
Platform For Display: Xbox 360
I've been a gamer since roughly 1990, starting my gaming career on the original NES. In the subsequent years, side-scrolling platformers dominated the video game market, due to the fact that 3D wasn't really an option due to technical limitations. As the newer generations of consoles pushed the graphics barrier, platformers were replaced with shooters, racers, and open-world games. On the Xbox 360 and PS3, platformers have basically been non-existant comprised not even a full percent of retail games being released. Enter Rayman Legends. Legends looks to build upon the artistic style, memorable music, and solid gameplay mechanics of Origins. Originally slated for an exclusive release on Wii U in February of 2013, Rayman Legends was delayed until September 3rd, in order to be ported to the Xbox 360 and PS3, granting access to the title to a much larger user base. Not only did the delay allow developers to tweak gameplay elements, they also added 40 re-mastered levels from the original game, calling the section "Back To Origins." This means that Rayman Legends is packed with content. The smooth side-scrolling game is simple enough for anyone to pick up and play, but still offers enough of a challenge for the hardcore gaming crowd to enjoy. The music is charming and the artistic style is beautiful, packed with colors and interesting worlds to explore. Although not quite as challenging as it's predecessor, the precision of the controls along with the gameplay variety makes this one of the best platformers in recent memory. Definitely pick this one up! ... show more

  • One of the funniest games in our home
Platform For Display: Xbox 360
Rayman is one of our favorite games ever. The kids have played and played with it so much that I decided to get them Rayman Origins for Christmas. It's one of the most creative and fun (and funny!!) games I've ever seen. Playing along to the music is just so much fun, and the characters are hilarious. It's so funny when they die (they blow up like balloons), and if you play as a team you can heal each other to have more of a chance of making it to the end. My kids have gotten very frustrated with some of the levels, but they end up passing them eventually. It's hard and challenging but not so much that you can never make it. My kids are 7 & 10. As a mother I just love it when they play this game instead of certain others. There is punching and kicking, but nothing violent like so many other videogames. My kids always end up laughing and planning their moves. There are so many levels it's just crazy. It seems like the game is never-ending. They've had it for 2 years now, and played A LOT, they're good too, but they still haven't finished the game! If I had to pick one favorite videogame, it would be this one without a doubt. I love that my kids enjoy it so much and have so much fun playing it. ... show more
