The size is unobtrusive and I am very pleased with the way it looks over my shoulder on a sofa and a chair. The base is heavy enough to feel solid. It won't fit behind one sofa because there is not enough room for the lamp to come up from behind. It assembled easily, though instructions left a bit of work for clarity. The price is great!
