  • The President Randy 2 is a good buy and solid unit
Color: Black
I like the weight and portability. good squeltch and scanning. the am and fm not as easy to use as others in the class. I do not like the antenna. it needs to be longer. the battery life is ok but not superior. having the device connected to the car charger in the car boosts its range. setting the SWC is easy and is an issue if you do not read the manual. if you are not a technical manual reader, this might not be for you. if communications was easy, everyone would be an expert. the problem with the USA in 2023, too many uneducated unskilled experts in every field they Google or Wikipedia......lol. ... show more

  • Great radio but cheap battery
Color: Black
Battery doesn't have enough amps to power radio at full power or for long... President should have used a better battery as well as a better power supply which also doesn't power the unit well.... Engineering menu should also allow more wattage than it does and I would prefer a squelch knob rather than digital... ASC that is reliable preferred.... ... show more

  • Wow!
Color: Black
Just got the CB and scanned for anyone and got someone talking about how hot it is in Georgia and I live in California so I must have got a repeater and was able to hear them across the country so I can say without a doubt this CB works great and recommend it to anyone.

  • Calibrate your antenna
Color: Black
Most of bad reviews. Did you use SWR? I've not had one issue. You'll have to buy connector for antenna to swr. Calibrate each time you swap antennas. I live in mountains. Not really field tested but gets great reception

  • Good Radio, but you need external antenna
Color: Black
I purchased for road trips. Found out quickly, that the standard rubber ducky antenna is not sufficient to pull in any useful transmissions. Great features, but I'd recommend a full radio setup in your vehicle.

  • Factory antenna is junk, reception just ok
Color: Black
Compared with a bottom of the barrel CB from 1975 that I pulled out of my grandparents attic and fixed a burnt diode on, these are just ok. On several direct back to back comparisons, these are definitely not as good sounding audio, and weak signals are more staticy and harder to hear. This was using the same external antenna, screwing around for over an hour going back and forth. The stock antenna is USELESS. Which is not a big surprise given how short it is. Literally 200' away line of sight it starts to get staticy between 2 of these radios. 50' away through a house it's staticy. It's better to just yell. A full 1/4 wave CB antenna is like 10' long, obviously a portable radio won't have that, but 2' long or so would still be portable and waaaay better. If you're looking for something for camping or kids to play with, get an FRS radio that runs at higher frequency so a small antenna works well (line of sight only still). If you're looking for an emergency in-car radio for help if your car dies where you have no cell service, you basically need an external roof mounted antenna for this to be useful. Doable, but no easy off the shelf solution for non-technical people. You need: Adapter from TNC (this radio connector) to whatever your antenna cable connector is An antenna mount of some sort: Mag-mount NMO style is easiest, not perfect but still way better Either a ~10' antenna and a mount adapter (Larsen NMOQ52) or a shorter wire (like 5') and a coil to allow shorter antennas to be resonant at CB frequencies (like a Larsen NMO30BCO) A way to trim and verify antenna length to be resonant at CB frequencies - a radio nerd friend with a NanoVNA or SWR meter and some patience. I'm keeping mine, because I already had the knowledge and tools to do above shenanigans for emergency-only middle of nowhere car use. If I didn't, these woulda gone straight back. Good luck! ... show more

  • Really Good, but Not Perfect
Color: Black
Overall I'm pleased with it. I have another antenna on the way for it to hopefully increase the range a little and perhaps help it receive a little more quickly. My only complaint is that it has a hard time picking up the first word or so of a sentence when it's receiving. Side by side my base radio at work will pick up everything immediately while this radio will not. Maybe the new antenna will help... It has excellent battery life, it's lightweight, and it has a lot of features (even the flashlight comes in handy). I believe as far as a rechargeable handheld AM/FM CB radio with weather band you can't beat this model. I use it for work when I'm unable to be in the office or other equipment, but still need to communicate by CB. ... show more

  • A little odd.
Color: Black
Ok, so this is an AM / FM handheld CB radio with rechargeable battery. That alone makes it stand out. It works well enough but I question the form factor. Rather than make this look and feel like a quality CB (or even UHF) radio, President has given it the distinct look and feel of a Marine Radio. It feels weird in the hand and is often mistaken for a marine or bubble pack gmrs radio. At a radio swap meet some rules-monkey stopped me to tell me that I can't legally transmit with this radio on land. He was wrong but point taken. This looks like a marine radio. The belt clip is poorly designed and makes the radio protrude from your belt enough to clip just about every doorway frame you pass. Battery lasts long enough between charges. I use it to quickly check the airwaves for propagation but for that, I would prefer a wouxun for its smaller size or the CB 58 which has the same features except maybe the absence of NOAA. At least that can be modified for 10 meters. Of all my HT radios, I find myself reaching for this one the least. ... show more
