This stuff is powerful anytime my neighbors do something below my apartment the smell tends to come up and make my whole apartment stink. I add this to the water in the rainbow and it quickly destroys the smell. I sometimes use this when vacuuming and it makes the whole apartment smell fresh and like it had just rained inside. ... show more

I was skeptical of this at first . . . I mean really . . . how would this water additive help keep you from getting sick when it's in the vacuum? But I am glad I tried it as I have seen results. I have 5 kids, and any time one is sick we all get it. Since using this additive, I am pleased to say we have NOT played ring around the sicky. One of my kids came home with flu, puking EVERYWHERE for hours. Normally we all would have had it in a matter of days . . . but we used this in our rainbow and the small room filters and not one other person caught it. We have seen this happen with colds this winter as well. Now that it's spring and the weather is warm and wet I feel my allergies (I'm allergic to mold) are better this year when everyone around me insists this is a bad year for allergies. Evidently the level of alcohol is high enough (I use a cap full to 2 quarts) to kill bacteria and mold in the air. I used it when vacuuming the mattresses (ewww) and was pleased. It does have a medicinal scent as others have mentioned and I'm not thrilled with that, but it seems to dissipate quickly. I have tried rubbing alcohol and white vinegar in the rainbow when I'm out of this, but I feel (maybe incorrectly) that this does a better job. At any rate, I am so glad I gave this a try and will be using it again next fall, winter and spring! ... show more

    • Not really worth it
I got the newest rainbow model in the beginning of 2017, because my father grew up with one and I wanted one for myself. He and his parents swear by them. He mentioned this air treatment product, and I had seen it before but didn’t think anything of it. But we have a smoker in the house, so I figured I’d give it a whirl. It does smell like a strange mouth wash. And tends to leave a film inside the basin. It also has a residual smell that stays in the bowl. The smell soaks into the hepa filter on the exhaust, so if you don’t want to use this stuff, it lingers in the machine. I had to add a lot more than suggested for this to really make a difference. Especially if you just have a few areas to vacuum in your house, you won’t smell it barely if you don’t douse the water with this stuff. For the price, I’d say it’s not worth the money, because of how small it is. It’s only 16 ounces which is less than a bottle of almost water. Mine was gone in less than 2 months. My dad said that this didn’t smell quite the same as what they used to use, and it’s not quite the same effect of the air. This I also read in other reviews, and I saw that this is a “higher concentrate” requiring you use less. I also haven’t read great things about the rainbow water scents either...
