This hat worked perfect to keep the sun out of my face while mowing the lawn. My hat came delivered by usps which I was worried about due to them not caring about packages from my experience. Sure enough it was left under my mailbox at the side of the road and not on my porch as Amazon does for deliveries. It was delivered in a pouch and not a box which added to my worries. After opening it and inspecting the hat it was In great shape. Not like I’ve saw in some other reviews. It does seem somewhat flimsy. Although I only plan to use it while mowing my lawn so I’m sure it will hold up for some time. The hat comes with a band where your head goes to ensure a snug fit and also a draw string to keep it on your head. Also it was only $15. Seemed like a win to me and still does. I really like the straw hat that I got from Amazon. It is Quicksilver brand and fits true to size. My boyfriend wears his baseball hats on the last 3 snaps. I got him a L/XL. I love the color and also that it has a string to go under your chin if needed. The only con is that when I received my hat from Amazon, there were a few pieces of straw broken and falling off of the hat. I know this is going to happen with normal wear and tear, but it was a gift to my boyfriend and I wanted it to be in excellent condition. The few princes of straw were not bad enough to justify me sending it back. P.S. He loves the hat too. ... show more

Hat came in a huge box and it’s damaged; it arrived in bad condition and I don’t have time to return it. See photo of how it arrived - the box is huge and not damaged at all and the hat is in terrible shape - both bent and broken. Total waste of money unfortunately. Very cheap material. I think Quicksilver should discontinue this shoddy project. ... show more

    • This hat is a lifesaver in the sun! But pretty fragile

This hat is a lifesaver at festivals and for hiking— basically whenever you’re in the sun for a long time! It’s got a huge brim if that’s what you’re looking for which casts a ton of shade, and I personally think this kind of hat looks less dorky than some other kinds of shade hats. I have a pretty small head and got the size S/M and it fits great, maybe a just a bit looser personally but I couldn’t have asked for any better and it is definitely functional. The tie thing also stays in place nicely and makes it so the hat doesn’t slip around or blow off your head. The only thing is that, by nature of it being a straw hat, it may be a little fragile and can get squished easily if you’re not careful, I think more so than some other more tightly woven straw hats. But, that may be why it has better ventilation than some other ones, so it just comes down to preference. It can’t realy fit in backpacks so to bring it around I just hang it around my neck or on the back of my car seat, which hasn’t caused any problems. One of my friends actually bought a similar hat at a festival because this style is so nice but that one cost $60 (!!!!) so my recommendation is to be more prepared than her and get this hat ahead of time and for a lot less. ... show more

Quiksilver Men's Pierside Lifeguard Beach Sun Straw Hat: A Review If you spend a lot of time outside in the sun—at the beach, by the pool, or just hanging out, this is a great hat! I wear hats like this when I work in the garden or float in the pool, but I usually buy them when I’m on vacation at those cheap souvenir shops. Usually I’m lucky if they last a year! I wear them so much, I decided it was time to get a better one. I used to wear Quiksilver clothing when I was a teen so I went with this hat. I must say, this is the best sun hat I’ve ever had. I never thought I would stop and write a review for a sun hat as a 40 year man but here we are! It’s lightweight, comfortable, and I love the color! If you love these hats you will not be disappointed with this one! ... show more

Nice hat, not the most strong thing in the world i.e. dont pack it into your luggage it is definitely a straw hat i.e. you have to wear it and keep it safe from sitting on or smashing when not on your head. It breaths nice and seems to be pretty good on sun protection so far.

The Quiksilver Men's Pierside Lifeguard Beach Sun Straw Hat was purchased during July of 2021 for the price of $20.00 for a gift to a friend who spends a lot of time outdoors for his work. As of 11-18-24, the price has increased to $22.00. This hat was purchased for protection from the sun for a person who is required to be outdoors for long periods of time during sunny summer days. Although it was very effective in providing cover from the sun, it didn't last the summer. I guess for the price point one could expect that it wouldn't last; but it disintegrated rather quickly. I wouldn't purchase a straw hat of this kind again. It seems as though straw does not hold up over the long term. If I'd been thinking clearly, I would have opted for a hat made of palm. I purchased a similarly styled hat made of palm 19 years ago for little more than the price I paid for this hat and it hasn't lost one weave stitch. It requires a good wiping every once in a while; but it is as sturdy and well made as anyone could desire. Unless one wants to make this purchase repeatedly, I would not make this purchase....and I will not make this purchase again! He did, however, deeply appreciate the gesture. ... show more
