I wired a 50 amp NEMA 14-50 outlet in the garage so that I can charge my 2020 Chevy Bolt EV at home every day. I have two options to turn the charger on: 1) swiping in the app. 2) Pressing one of the 3 cards that were provided against the display. The charger connects to the internet via wifi, or it can connect directly to your phone thru bluetooth. I have the charger connected both ways just in case my wifi is down. The app allows you to change the charging rate (amps 1 - 48), charging duration, the specific time/date of charging (delayed charging), or you can specify the amount of Kwh that are provided (quantitative charging). The app also maintains a record for each charging session. My normal routine is to plug the Bolt into the charger after parking in the garage at the end of each day. Before I go to sleep, I use the app to activate charging so that the batteries have had some time to cool down. I should also mention that the 2020 Bolt has a charging limit of approximately 7.5 Kwh which requires only 32 amps; however, I'm confident this charger will output the full 48 amps that it is rated. The price for EV chargers is becoming more competitive. At the time of this review, and based on many hours of research, I believe this charger is a better VALUE than ChargePoint, Autel, etc. because it has the core features that are needed coupled with the maximum level 2 charging rate of 48 amps. Thus, I'm giving this charger 5 stars and a solid recommendation. If I have any problems in the next 5 years, I will update this review accordingly. ... show more

First of all, I am always leery of products which only have a rating from Vine free product recipients, which was the case when I purchased it the end of September 2024. Second, I swear it had a UL listing, but when I went back after it arrived, that was gone and a note added that this was a frequently returned item. There is no UL or ETL listing! As for documentation, there are two manuals, one for use and the other for software. They are about 3” square with very tiny print and neither is complete, but after some experimentation I got it to work. You can only select charging current at the levels they have predetermined (not every single amp). The available charging rates are 6, 8, 10, 13, 16, 20, 24, 32, and 40 amps. I find these choices odd, but not a big issue. If you try to pick a charging level on the software that device does not accept, it will remain at the prior setting. The software does not tell you what current settings are valid; it just lists amperage in increments of one amp. The only way you know what settings it will accept is to step through the possible choices using the button on the device and reading the current on the screen. You then have to remember which settings are available when you use the software. If you change charging rates frequently, this is annoying. For me, it stays at the same rate so this is not an issue. I had a problem trying to load software on two phones and had to disconnect one before connecting the other, but in fairness I have to play with it more before saying it won’t work. The software manual is certainly no help. The charging cord holder is cheap plastic, and in my opinion inadequate to hold 25 feet of heavy cable. Not a deal breaker; at this price I can buy my own hook. As for charging with the card or software it works well, and at this price it is certainly a bargain. However without a UL or ETL listing I would never install a 240 volt 40 amp device in or on my house. I’d be too worried about fire. Mine is on a pole 10 feet from the house. If it burns, I only lose a 4 x 4 post. My recommendation: at half the cost of competing products it is worth it, but only if you don’t install it in or on the house. Easy install. It comes with RFID cards to start/stop the charging which some might find annoying, but I don’t mind taking the extra step to ensure electricity is or isn’t flowing before plugging in or unplugging. I typically just use the app to start and stop. It also gives you good info on status and charging history. I got the 40 amp version and it has been very consistent and charging my car at about 10kW at all times. Build quality is just ok, but it does look nice. Nice beefy cable.     • Protective display glass fell off as soon as it arrived
This glass that covers all the delicate screan fell off when taking out of box so not a good start, as far as charging it worked fine.

The only issue I have is that the plastic face plate falls off as it appears what ever they used to adhear the plate to the main box does not work. Other than that it charges great and you can adjust the amps from 40 down to 8 if need be. It does come with RFID cards so if you install the unit outside you will either need the app that is tied to the Smart Life app or use the RFID card that is supplied. ... show more

The quality is very high and installation was quick and easy, even our electrician said it was one of the best charging stations he’s installed. We did have an issue with the charging station not working but the company was very responsive and after some troubleshooting they sent us a brand new replacement unit.
