Exactly what i was looking for! This looks factory since you replace the whole mirror, this is NOT a "snap-over" like some other models that just clip over the existing mirror. I did not have to glue the provided metal adaptor to my windshield..I just unscrewed the old mirror and slid this whole unit over the existing windshield metal mount. The dealership wanted $799 to $899 to add a backup camera to my 2017 Silverado..I said NO WAY JOSE! For about $70, I'll give this a shot. The truck is much longer than any other vehicle I've installed cameras in...but the provided Yellow Video Cable was just long enough to make the connection from backup camera on the license plate to my fuse box, where it joined the cables from the rearview mirror. I really love that this all looks factory! And with the help of an HDMI to Composite adapter ($20) and an apple HDMI adapter ($45)... I was able to mirror what's on my iPhone to the rearview mirror's 2nd input. The screen know to switch over to the backup camera view when I put the truck in reverse, and then goes back to whatever I had playing on the other input when I go back to drive or park. The whole project took a few hours of labor, and I do have some experience in this, but I'll definitely purchase a few more for gifts. Great deal and did I mention...THE MIRROR LOOKS LIKE FACTORY! UPDATE: The backup camera has an "unfocused" picture after only 2 months of use. The mirror/screen itself is perfect and gets 5 stars..but because the camera on the license plate is failing, I'll give that 1 star. For an average of 3 stars. It's too much work to take it all apart and send it back for an exchange so I will purchase another different backup camera (Pyle PLCM17BC) and swap out just that part. I had this same issue with the metal framed camera provided in the kit on a different vehicle. The replacement camera (Pyle PLCM17BC) that I purchased to replace the last faulty one has a plastic frame and has been going strong for 9 months now. ... show more

I really didn’t have a good location for a separate screen and having it in the mirror was attractive. The mirror mounted on the existing tab. It was easy to run the power and video wires to the fuse box. It was a bit more fun running the video cable to back if my truck (ordered a 30’foot cable and large zip ties). I soldered and shrink covered all the connections, just for longevity. I bought a pigtail that plugs into one fuse location with two outlets it to get power. I tried a wireless unit to transfer the signal at first but it was DOA. Wired, it works perfectly. My only complaints are that the green power light is too bright (I used black tape to cover it) the mirror is tinted a bit (which just took some getting used to) and there are no lights on the camera for night. The camera also covered my plate registration sticker, which is illegal, so I fabricated a bracket to raise it above the plate. Update after a month - I wish I did it a lot sooner. It might have saved me a serious parking lot accident. Performance, from a connection perspective, has been flawless. I am glad I went the extra mile soldering and sealing everything as well as preventing chafing against the frame. I am well used to the slight mirror tint now. The only hitch is the lack of lighting on the back up camera. While the camera does a pretty good job in low lighting, once in a while it is less than useful in the dark, but mostly in situations where there is nothing behind me, such as when I am backing out of my driveway, as there is nothing to reflect my reverse lights. ... show more

This was purchased as a gift for a person with a 2014 Ram Truck. It sat several months due to it being winter and then many rainy days in the spring before I could install it. When I did install it I had to go buy mirror mounting adhesive since the new monitor/mirror did not fit on the factory mount of the truck. The camera wire was long enough but the truck only had one fuse box under the hood from which to draw forward power. So, I also had to purchase two small rolls of wire. I might also add that the instructions were very limited and consisted of one very small image of how it was to be connected. There were no written instructions to speak of. When I got everything connected the LCD screen just flickers and doesn't show an image. I contacted the company and while they were prompt in replying, they tell me I have to pay to ship the product back AND.... AND pay a "small fee" billable on a credit card for the shipment of the replacement. Did I mention this was a gift and not even mine??? At this point, I said forget it, and tossed the whole unit. Display is nice and bright, very quick response to the camera coming online. I had purchased a separate camera module off eBay that matched my trim better. The camera that comes with this kit is higher quality and has both less noise and a wider viewing angle. I found that it's entirely possible for me to swap the camera module from this kit into the housing on the eBay camera, giving me an OEM exterior appearance. I have to dock a star because I noticed a rattle when I took it out of the box. Cracking open the housing a tad, a surface-mount capacitor fell out. I'm not sure if it were an extra dropped in by a lazy Pick-and-Place machine during manufacturing or if there actually is a capacitor missing on the circuit board. The camera function works fine but I can't effectively test the auto-dimming. Edit: It doesn't have autodimming. The plastic bits are fake (though curiously the front one is an IR sensor). The power LED is really annoying and I accidentally damaged the LCD itself trying to disable the power LED. Thankfully it's an off-the-shelf 40-pin LCD you can find online easily for ten bucks. ... show more
