We have a Muddy Mat and this mat. I can tell you without hesitation that Purrugs are in a league of their own. First of all, the backing on the Purrug is far better quality. Even after washing it, it's still in "like new" condition. It also stays put right out of the packaging. Next, the absorbency is phenomenal. We have 2 quite large dogs. A Siberian Husky and an Australian Shepherd. We also have a backyard that we call the mud pit. I shudder when I hear it's going to rain (and in Ohio we get quite a bit of that!). This mat absorbs on first contact. The dogs just need to walk on it and it's trapping the water and mud. The muddy mat requires them to almost drag their paws across it to absorb. While the mud is not totally gone from inside the house, it has been substantially reduced with the Purrugs Mat. Due to it's wonderful absorbency, we vacuum it regularly and it looks awesome. When it needs a deeper clean, I throw it in the washer and wash according to instructions. (Cold and no fabric softener). Then I dry it on low heat in our dryer. I remove it promptly and put it back in front of the back door and it looks as good as the first day we bought it. It's durable, easy to clean, very absorbent and in a class by itself. I have purchased several different brands of carpets, but this one is the best! I have the PURRUG in several different sizes, styles and colors (some were given to my college kids for their apartments/dorms.) Picture is a newly opened grey rug. Takes 4 or 5 days for lines to disappear. Firstly, they catch all that loose grass when you walk in after mowing the lawn. Also catches tons of cat hair and other dirt. And when our dog comes in from the rain and mud, it really absorbs all that as well. Her paws are dry once she steps off the carpet. Compared to the MUDDY matt, this one is more comfortable on your feet (I was surprised by that). Super easy to clean with a vacuum. We have a Dyson and the carpet edges don't get sucked into the vacuum (huge plus). I have also washed and dried one of my 8x10 rugs in the clothes washer. Came out looking great. No loose threads, no rubber backing crumbling off, nothing! Very impressed! This is my go to area rug for a front door, to be used as a runner, as a shower matt and also by the bathroom sink. Now my house stays much cleaner because of these area rugs/matts! ... show more

We got this for our backyard door for our dogs to walk on as they enter the house and it has been a game changer lol. They used to track mud throughout the whole house but having this dirt trapping barrier at the house has really helped my back cause I don't have to mop as often now lol. I got a big size and put it vertical so that they have a chance to step on it with all their paws cause their big dogs lol. I like that you can't really see the dirt on it and it's very easy to run a vacuum over it, like it doesn't get caught in the vacuum which is important! I highly recommend! ... show more
