First off let me say this gazebo is very nice. Every piece and part fit together perfectly. Even some spares of some screws and what not. Quality unit thru out. The during and after sale correspondence was fantastic, unheard of lately. The assembly was somewhat of a project, my wife and i are in our late 60’s and we got it done. If i had to build another one, i would certainly get a couple young guys to help. Directions were fine, all illustrations. We’ve had a couple of very windy days since we put it up and have no problems. One thing i would recommend it to assemnle it on a flat, level surface , otherwise it’ll be out of kilter and bolts wont go into holes. I am bery happy with the quality and would certainly recommend it to others. Great job Purlpeleaf 👍 ... show more

These comments are for the 10x14 gazebo. I agree with the majority of comments from other five-star reviews. The gazebo arrived in five boxes, ranging in weight from 37 to 114 pounds. The heaviest box was the smallest, containing the steel roof panel sections. The packaging was very robust, with extra-thick cardboard plus reinforcements where needed. The roof panel box was damaged slightly by FedEx during transit, but the robust packaging prevented damage to any panels. With over 1000 individual pieces, assembly takes some time. In our case, we installed it on our deck that is elevated six feet above ground level, and with only seven feet clearance from deck to soffit, so this presented a few additional challenges, but the assembly process is such that no ground-based ladders were needed. The gazebo is very well designed and is obviously manufactured with tight tolerances to ensure quality. The pieces fit together very well; however, it's important that the base legs and frame be plumb and square so that subsequent pieces fit well. Because we assembled the gazebo to be adjacent to the sliding doors exiting our house, we appreciate the built-in gutters. The gutters are not extremely deep, but they seem to work well with light and moderate rainfall rates; a heavy rainfall rate will result in overflow. We bolted the gazebo to our deck, using 2x4 sleepers between the deck joists to provide a secure anchor. We've had some strong winds since, and the gazebo was very stationary, with no rattles or movement that we could detect. Mostly, we need sun shade, and the gazebo screens don't provide much shade, so we removed them. The solid curtains work well, and are made of heavy fabric that should stand up to the weather for years. The dark gray color has a relatively high emissivity, so solar absorption and re-radiation of infrared to the inside of the gazebo will occur. The vent near the top, between the two roofs, will allow for convective release of warm air to help cool the inside, especially if all the solid curtains are in use. Overall, I think this is a very good product, one that I can recommend. We look forward to finally being able to use and enjoy our deck! ... show more

We ordered the 12x24 gazebo in gray to finish off our outdoor living space. We decided on the Purple Leaf due to its good reviews and the fact they made the exact size we needed. Install took my wife and I approximately 3 days. We needed a third person to install the roof framing and would’ve probably benefited to have a 4th. Plan on owning a set of Allen key drill/impact sockets. To build this thing without power tools would be an exercise in futility. Also it really helps to have two ladders available. After setup we realized we LOVE this thing. The amount of space, the build quality, the curtains, the tracks the curtains run on, the exterior design and gutters, all of it. Even the install hardware and threaded fittings were all of high quality, I don’t think a single thing stripped out during install. Holes lined up, panels fit well. All of it. I don’t do well with sun and this has made our outdoor space a joy to use all summer long. Recently I lost a part and had to reach out to customer service and they were quick to respond and had parts to me within a few days. I live in an area that gets a ton of snow. We got 5 feet on Christmas a few years back, and I intend to reinforce this with a center support for winters. It’s quality but I don’t think it would survive a heavy snow load on its own but I’m pretty sure with a support in the very center, it should do fine. If you live in an area that gets a few inches at a time, I’d be confident with it. Anyways, big fan of this minus the lengthy install, but for a 300 square foot structure, what do you expect really? ... show more

Buyer beware when purchasing. First prepare for 7 boxes that are subject to deliver separately. Also, the assembly requires a lot of tools, and reading pages of instructions at least two people to complete the job. My advise would be to take your time and go slow. It took 3 days with two person crew to fully assemble. However, I must say it is well worth the fuss when it comes to life. Top quality and strikingly appeasing to the eyes.
