  • BEST FAUCET FILTER OUT THERE - MATCHES MY KITCHEN SINK PERFECTLY
Color: STAINLESS STEEL
I bought this to replace a 5yr old PUR faucet filter that started leaking around the filter cap. It took 5 years to develop that. In my opinion, they last quite a while and these filter assemblies are the best around. - They come with every adapter possible to ensure it will install on your faucet right. - I bought the Chrome'ish one and it matches my faucet and sink perfectly. Much better than the old white one I had. - The filters are probably the best faucet filters you can find. They filter out almost all contaminants, although they won't filter some microbes. NO faucet filter claims that they can filter all those out. - We have decent water but after running it through this filter, the taste is 100% better. Especially after refrigeration. If you're looking for a quality faucet filter system, this is the best around. Just buy it and you will see that it's worth every penny. ... show more

  • More shiny than in photo - Otherwise, it works like the others we have had
Color: STAINLESS STEEL
We have been using this style of water filtration for at least 10 years, using solely Pur filtration attached to our faucet in the kitchen. Every few years they will fail. This is our third device in 10 years. It was only changed this time because the color of our faucet was changed from off-white to brushed stainless steel. The faucet we had began leaking profusely. The first device lasted about 7 years before breaking. I took the device apart when it broke to see if it could be fixed and saw no way to fix it. We changed the filter inside the Pur device when the water began slowing. Using a Pur does create additional pressure in the faucet when the filtration lever is used to filter. You can see the faucet move when the filter is turned on. So, any faucet that is prone to leaking, is certainly not going to improve. Our tap water here tastes and smells strongly of chlorine. There is also red algae. We filter it for our dogs and our coffee. The filter does not last very long and it does not give a lot of water. However, it was simple to install and worked well enough for our use. There are attachment adapters included that allow it to fit different sink faucets. We had to change our adapter when we installed the new faucet. This one looked more like brushed nickel/steel in the photo than what it is. It has a slightly warmer color than our faucet but it is not a perfect match and certainly looks more shiny than the image on amazon. We are planning to buy a Reverse Osmosis device. However, those devices waste a lot of water to purify your water. While you blow through filters very quickly on the Pur, you do not waste a lot of water. For example one of the reverse osmosis devices has a 3:1 ration. Meaning for every gallon of pure water, 3 gallons are wasted. Something to consider. There is a light that flashes every time you replace a filter (or basically every time you remove the cover and lift the filter out). It is green when you start. Then after multiple uses it flashes yellow. Then more uses cause it to turn red. The color changes do not occur because it is testing the water or measuring output. The color only changes based on number of times the filter is turned on. So, it can be very misleading. Opinion: They ask you to change the filters more frequently than needed. The taste is good for weeks after the red light comes on. We wait until flow begins slowing, which does add pressure to the line. I do not believe our faucet leaked due to the Pur filtration device. Our faucet was old junk that was here when we moved in. However, using it definitely made the slow leak more dramatic, especially towards the end of its life. :-) The fact that we have been using the Pur devices should be a testament to its ease of use and our satisfaction with the taste of the water. I have not tested the water though, so going on taste and smell alone. ... show more

  • Clean Water!
Color: Chrome
We've used the PUR brand on our faucet for a long time and I am satisfied with the results. We do not have room for a large pitcher that other brands use and the faucet mount is handy. We have a reliable water district but this is added protection for making ice cubes, etc..

  • Skeptical of the construction, materials and filtering abilities
Color: STAINLESS STEEL
I just received this PUR faucet mount system in the mail. First impression: very skeptical of the construction and materials, and, hence, also its ability to filter chemicals as claimed. The system is advertised as Stainless Steel, but beware that it is NOT actually constructed of stainless steel - I find the picture and advertising quite deceiving. I should give some credit to them since they did write "Stainless Steel Style," not "Stainless Steel." The PUR website doesn't write the word, "Style," and so I guess it didn't come to mind to question the material. Additionally, the plastic housing smelled highly of solvents after opening it for the first time (in order to place the filter inside). After it being open for about 15 min now, it smells better. For the plastic in the filter cartridge (that will be in contact with water), if there are to be solvents leaching out, I'd hope that the carbon would filter those out too.. Also, I question the quality control: one piece of evidence is on the filter cartridge where there are visible strings of glue scattered about where interfacing plastic members meet. The filter cartridge doesn't even have the "PUR" logo on it, as is pictured. As a result of all these concerns / issues, I am not sure if this is a knock off product or a real genuine PUR filter system. (Not to mention it is made in China, at least the housing is. Not sure about the filter cartridge.) At this point, I am debating returning the system without even trying it out. Update: I just spoke with PUR directly regarding my questions. The outer housing is plastic with stainless steel coloring because constructing the major part of outer housing with stainless steel would be very expensive, according to the sales representative. The filter cartridge is made of polypropylene and the glue residue is a standard result of their manufacturing process. Also, the system is tested by a third party, NSF, so perhaps it's ok. Also, in their defense, I did just receive some other new plastic based thing I bought and it also smelled of solvents, which is, I guess, expected. Anyhow, I will continue debating on whether to send it back and going with a different brand. (I narrowed down to the PUR system after doing a little research through NSF, EWG and Consumer Reports on filter systems available and their abilities to filter out certain chemicals (that are found in higher concentrations in my public water supply), and was hoping to love this filter too. I was looking for something convenient and that was a step up from water pitchers, and since this is a short term housing situation for me, I wasn't looking for a large under-the-sink kind of system that may be more thorough at filtering out chemicals and a wider range of chemicals, but maybe less convenient to move. I debated between the PUR faucet mount system and the Culligan one. The Culligan system wasn't listed on EWG and, through NSF, it was tested for (or passed tests for - unknown without seeing report results) fewer chemicals as compared to PUR. Convenience-wise, I think either would beat buying reverse osmosis filtered water from Whole Foods for my short term needs. Plus, reverse osmosis filtered water has concerns of its own.) Info from EWG website on the PUR MINERALCLEAR FAUCET MOUNT 3700B (Their "chrome" version of this filter) California Department of Public Health Certification (Certification number: 09-2005) California certifies this filter reduces: Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Trichloroethylene, Toxaphene, Total trihalomethanes (TTHMs), Toluene, Tetrachloroethylene, Styrene, Simazine, o-Dichlorobenzene, MTBE, Monochlorobenzene (Chlorobenzene), Methoxychlor, Mercury (total inorganic), Lindane, Lead (total), Heptachlor epoxide, Ethylbenzene, Endrin, Cysts/Bacteria, Chlorine, Chlordane, Carbon tetrachloride, Carbofuran, Benzene, Atrazine, Asbestos, 2,4-D, 2,4,5-TP (Silvex), .
