  • Excellent rake, shoots off rope like a rocket if your not careful
Product works great, very sturdy and strong. One thing I will mention is that the instructions say when you attach the rope to the handle do not over-tighten the nut on the bolt (make it finger tight) That is what I did. So there I am, throwing the rake into the pond, pulling it in and grabbing tons of weeds from the top. One hour later, I go to toss the rake into the pond and it shoots off the rope like a missile .... sinks to the bottom, very slowly.....as I stared at it knowing there was nothing I could do but watch it sink to the bottom. Another hour later in a canoe with a rigged up garden tool on a pole, I was able to grab the rake and pull it back to safety. So the morale of the story is, finger tight with the nut/bolt that attaches the rope to the handle is NOT good advise. Bring along an adjustable wrench of a 7/16 wrench and tighten that bitch up. ... show more

  • I bought this and am happy to have it
I bought this and am happy to have it. It is hard work cleaning the funk out of the bottom of a pond. The funk easily comes off the rake. The extension is great. I haven't used the rope yet and not the float part. It worked well but if you want to clean muck off the bottom of a pond it takes time and lots of repetition. The rake worked well. ... show more

  • Quality tool
With the addition of some extra steel welded to top of tine bar, this rake is a real workhorse for the heavy weeds in our large pond. The extra weight was needed to get it to sink into the mass and then drag them out. Works perfectly for us now and the quality should last us a long time.

  • Great for lakefront cleanup.
Use it on a sandy area of my lake front home to get rid of stray leaves, twigs, and other debris. Works great. Easy to handle even when the handle is fully extended. Have also used as a landscape rake in the yard. No experience with weeds, not a problem I have.

  • WARNING! DANGEROUS!!!
I would have given this 5 Stars if I hadn't sliced open three fingers while assembling it! The front face of the tines (towards you while raking) are nicely wire brushed and polished. However, the back of the tines on mine are unfinished, milled aluminum with burrs and a razor edge. It will cut you quite badly if you grab it the wrong way, which I apparently did. I am just happy that it happened while I was putting it together because if I had done it while pulling muck off the tines, I would be off getting a tetanus shot right now. I am going to chalk this one up to a Fail by Quality Control, because I can't imaged they sell these with unfinished edges. Just check yours and be safe. ... show more

  • Save thousands.....
This rake and the razor rake will allow us to save thousands of dollars. We can cut the weeds as they come....rake the algae...and use copper sulphide ....the pond looks awesome. It is one acre and just ground water level fed...no spring....about 12 feet deep. On two occasions we have spent lots of $$ having it dredged....these tools allow us (and we are in our 70's) to maintain the pond without lots of heavy equipment coming in......next purchase a grass carp fish...I'm told by more experienced owners. You buy this little guy...he keeps the pond weeds down...grows to about four feet long...should be fun!!!!.. ... show more

  • Expensive, but worth the outlay of money. Well constructed and will last.
The rope is handy if you are going to throw half the rake out further, which was an unexpected bonus. Cons: There is no place to store the cap for the shortened handle, when throwing the rake. There is no cleat to keep the rope coiled out of the way. Otherwise, it can drag behind the rake, tangle in your feet, and pick up poison ivy. The rope storage is probably the reason I don't use it more, and I may end up taking it off or putting it on a caribiner for quick attachment. Pros: The rake efficiently picks up an amazing amount of pond weed, shortening shore cleaning by over 50%, compared with the pool skimmer nets I was using. The velcro that holds the float foam on was getting very weedy, so those got changed to zip ties, whick work great. ... show more
