  • The perfect glue gun of commercial quality, well made, and a pleasure to use.
Almost every glue gun that I have ever used before this one, was the typical small gun that drips when it is hot and sitting. That is just the beginning for this wonderful glue gun that does NOT drip. It has a full grip so your whole hand can control the trigger. When you release the trigger, the pressure on the glue stick is released, so there is no way the glue is forced out of th gun when you don't want it. The built-in wire stand holds the gun upright as pictured. When sitting like that, it does not drip. When dispensing glue, the gun gives you a lot of control. The glue goes where you put it, and in the amounts that you intended to use. Being a 100 watt gun, it makes very hot glue, this gun is not a toy for children, the glue coming from it will burn you. This might sound like a defect, but it is actually just the opposite. When applying hot glue to whatever you intend to glue, the last thing you would want is for the glue to start to harden before you get the parts mated properly. In order for that to happen, the glue must be very hot, and it is. As a tip, if you are gluing something big and it is cold, it will be hard to get your project together before the glue starts to set. heat the project parts with a blow dryer, once they are warm, start gluing the parts. The tip of the gun has plastic around it and the tip can be removed, and exchanged for other tips that are sold separately. It would be nice if they sold a package deal that came with the three extra tips for a discounted price. In any case, the three tips that are sold together are very useful. You get one that is flat and wide, one that is long and skinny, and another that is wider round and has the tip cut at an angle. The tip that comes with the gun is a fine general use tip, and it will be what most people would use. Someone who is working with wood might want the wide flat tip. The red plastic that is around the stock tip allows the glue to be peeled off of it, The three optional tips are aluminum and brass, and have a plastic washer that goes between the tip and the gun. I'm guessing that is so the tip can be removed more easily after it is used. The tips are very rugged, and made well. The gun has a 5 foot two conductor electrical cord. Over all this is a quality product that fully deserves its current five star rating. The last bit of information I would like to share with you is about the glue. Hot glue is far from all being the same. Stanley makes some glue that is tough as nails, and sticks to nearly everything. When you find it, you will have to read the reviews before you buy it. That is how costly it is, It is as good as they say, and if you need a super strong glue that will stick to almost anything, you will want Stanley GS500BK, it is a yellow glue, and that is the only complaint anyone ever had about it. I should also mention that not all glue guns can use that Stanley GS500BK, that is because many glue guns are no where near 100 watts, and this glue needs this gun, or a hotter gun, but not a colder gun. Other glue that is very good is made by Surebonder, the makers of this glue gun. It is called Best Stick, and while the package says that it is 40% stronger, they don't compare it to any other glue, all I can say is that it is very good glue, and it cools to a nice hard finish. You might ask about what makes hot glue not good? It is about how soft the glue is at room temperature, and how soft it would get in common everyday situations. The last thing anyone wants is for their hot glued parts top come apart when they get warm, and something puts a little pressure on it. I mentioned two glues you can buy on Amazon, both are excellent. ... show more

  • Hot and Fast
While I’m a project person, this is my first experience with Hot Glue Guns. I needed to remake a cardboard box we use for a small XMass tree, as the first one was put together hastily using duct tape which didn’t hold up. Thought the right tool for this project would be a glue gun, so I headed over to the local big box hardware store and bought the only one they sold, an Arrow, for $17 and a 12pc bag of 1/2” x 10” glue sticks. That unit was a total bust, it didn’t get the glue hot enough, what came out was as cloudy as the stick going in so what glue did come out had almost zero working time. The gun continued to drip glue after releasing the trigger so it was also messy to work with. I return it and bought the 100w SureBonder on Amazon. What a huge difference. The glue comes out hot and clear which affords enough working time to apply as much as you need over a wide area, and then line-up and press the pieces of cardboard together as needed. You can even feel the hotness of the glue through the cardboard. At $34 it was twice the price of the first one, but 100 times better. Either tools work or they don’t work, anything in-between is a waste of time and money. Also, do yourself a favor and buy a lot of glue sticks if you anticipate using anything more than a few dabs. The glue doesn’t go as far as you think. You won’t be disappointed with this unit ... show more

  • Powerful, fast, clean!
A hot glue gun was missing from my arsenal of tools, so after checking out Amazon's offerings I decided on this Surebonder. I got by this far without one, and I don't do a lot of gluing stuff together, but I wanted a quality piece so I grabbed this model. Appropriately named! I could tell it was a quality piece when I pulled it out of the box, it's well constructed and exudes about as much quality as a plastic-bodied tool can. Sure enough, an opportunity arose to use it two days after I got it. I had a manual shifter boot that came loose off a center console on a Miata because the mounting posts broke. I fired up the Surebonder, loaded a glue stick and let it warm up. With 100 watts, it brings the glue up to temp quickly. The glue flows smoothly and predictably from the nozzle, and I really appreciated the fact that when you stop squeezing the trigger, the glue stops flowing cleanly instead of slobbering adhesive all over your project. The other advantage to the power is that it gets the glue hot enough to stay liquid for a while, allowing you to position and secure your pieces before it takes a set. In the end, I had a shifter boot that stayed in place solidly, saving the customer the cost of replacing the whole console. In all, a great purchase at a very reasonable price point. Can't wait for my next opportunity to stick some broken stuff together! ... show more
