I bought this kit and thought it was a little expensive for what it is. Then I read the reviews after purchase and got a little worried. You can ignore all of the reviews that say the wood was warped and pieces did not fit together nicely. This is not true. I was very impressed with the quality of wood and it looks excellent when finished. Everything sat flush when nailed together with very minimal finish sanding. I had more than enough pieces for the shingles and decided to use the extra to put a little fence around the house. I highly recommend the kit and I'd say after completing it the price is on point for the quality. Building tips: I used a tiny drill bit to pre drill the nail holes on whatever piece of wood they would first be nailed in through. I did not experience any cracks. If I were to build it again, I would also glue the walls together in addition to the nails. I found that some nails backed themselves out when working on another wall. They are in there good once everything was assembled but using glue as well would add some peace of mind. ... show more

Got this for my 7 year old - he built it with his dad. Directions were super easy to follow, and the glue that comes with this kit is “the best glue in the world” and is being saved to use for future projects/repairs. The birdhouse itself is amazing, nicely designed with really nice details and they give you great pieces of wood. Will put polyurethane on it to waterproof but other wise I would highly recommend this!!! ... show more

Very easy, basic kit - but the design doesn't allow for an opening panel to clean the birdhouse annually. I used the back panel for this, cut horizontally and added some hinges and a latch. Also - the "eye-hooks" intended to hang the birdhouse from are designed to be attached to the shingles, which are glued on. This is a poor design because with wind the eye hooks will rip off the glued shingles, which would cause the birdhouse to fall. Otherwise a great kiT ... show more

I was pretty happy with the presentation and instructions straight out of the box. I took some time to paint my pieces before putting it together, I think it came out so cute. My only complaint is that the hand screws suck and it took me so much time to find where they would actually hold up the birdhouse. I had to use a hammer to get them past the roof shingles.
