Description

Two childhood friends. Two broken hearts. One impromptu road trip to get away from everything. That’s all this was supposed to be. After all, I’ve been living in the friend zone for years now. But hockey heartthrob Jasper Gervais isn’t looking at me like a friend anymore. And he isn’t touching me like one either. To his fans, he’s the handsome, talented athlete on TV. To me, he’s still the lost boy with sad eyes and a heart of gold. The man I’ve loved in secret for years. So when my life falls apart on my wedding day, it only makes sense that he’s the one to swoop in and save me. And when his world comes crashing down around him, I’m there to return the favor. But the more time we spend alone, the more Jasper doesn’t feel like a friend at all. He feels like everything I’ve ever wanted and thought I could never have. Our feelings aren’t straightforward though. They twist and turn around the pain of his past and the reality of my present. Jasper Gervais acts like he wants me. But after years of turning me away, he’s going to need to prove it. Read more

  • JASPER AND SLOANE ARE EVERYTHING!!!
I knew I was ready for Sloane and Jasper's story, but never could have predicted it would have been that good!! These two were made for each other. Jasper had a horrible up bringing until Harvey Eaton takes him in. It is with his family that he is introduced to Sloane, the Eaton's cousin. They immediately notice each other. Growing up, Sloane goes out onto Jasper's roof with him every night to just talk and listen to each other. She has always been in love with him but he has always kept things at a friend level with the two of them because of their age difference, and because eventually we find out that Sloane's dad threatened that if he didn't leave her alone, he would ruin his NHL career. So, he keeps his distance. Until he is attending Sloane's wedding, to a complete jerk, and come to find out her soon-to-be husband had sex with a stripper the night before the wedding. So, Jasper saves her from this day and takes her away. They go to stay at the ranch. THE FORCED PROXIMITY IS TOOOOO MUCH IN THIS BOOK! It goes back and forth showing each one's thoughts and all like the other books have, the difference in this one was that they are both madly in love with each other, but are both too afraid to say it due to perceived barriers. Finally, when they finally get together it is PURE MAGIC. These two are amazing together. He is soooo protective over her and can't stand to be away from her. Finally, we see at the end him proposing with the ring she talked about in the beginning that she had told her ex-fiancee she wanted, only for him to go buy her the exact opposite of that. This was the sweetest proposal, and then in the epilogue we get to see that Sloane finally gets to have the intimate low-key wedding of her dreams. Then, the bonus epilogue is several years later and we get to see them having multiple kids and just being so happy together. Their story was amazing, will never recover!! Elsie Silver, you are a genius! ... show more

  • 5 Stars!
Jasper 👏🏼 freaking 👏🏼 Gervais. Elsie did it again. She wrote a beautifully, complex, dynamic romance full of all my favorite tropes. •plot• Sloane is about to make a huge mistake and marry a total jerk. She’s not even sure she loves him. When everything comes crashing down, her childhood friend and crush, Jasper is there to help her pick up the pieces. •characters• Sloane is a prima ballerina and the daughter of a successful telecom tycoon. She was raised to follow her dad’s rules and she’s a big perfectionist. Her clothes, her hair, her diet - she does everything to get her parent’s approval. Jasper is a professional hockey player and adopted brother to the Eaton boys. He’s had a traumatic upbringing and seeks to control everything in his life to keep everyone he lives safe. His friends and his family mean the world to him. And of course, the other characters from the Chesnut Springs world are so hilarious and lovable. My favorites are Willa and Harvey 😂 Tropes: friends to lovers, age-gap, small town, hockey TW: cheating ex’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶🌶 ... show more

  • Jasper and Sloane are everything
My loves…THIS BOOK. Prepare yourselves now for it to become my entire personality for a while. This is friends to lovers, pining, small town, spicy perfection. Jasper has been such a quiet character that comes in with killing one liners (see the lawn blowing scene in Heartless). I loved getting to know his story. Sloane is introduced at the end of Heartless, she is the cousin to my beloved Eaton siblings. Their love story just completely swept me away. Jasper was basically adopted by the Eatons and his past absolutely shredded my heart to pieces. When Sloane first laid eyes on him as a 10 year old girl, she was gone for him. He was a teenager at the time, so with their age gap nothing really could come of it. By the time they are both adults, timing and circumstances keep them from being more than friends. The best of friends though. They see each other like no one else does and are always there for each other. When Sloane is pushed into an engagement with the most hideous man with a last name that never fails to make me giggle like an adolescent, everything comes to a head. Jasper helps her flee the wedding and they road trip. The tension, the longing, the STEAM! It was all completely delicious. I loved how they talked, fought, and made their way through the mess to find the purest of loves with each other. Sloane learns to stick up for herself and be her own woman, and Jasper learns to allow himself to truly love and be loved. They grow so much. I also need to mention the MOUTH on Mr. Jasper Gervais. THAT quote had me fanning myself. IYKYK. Of course, with all of these Chestnut Springs books, the text banter is incredible. Willa and Harvey especially had me cackling. Harvey also brought me to damn tears, lord do I love that man. Also, um, YES to the next couple in the series!!! I don’t think I’ll ever be coming out of my small town era, Reckless can’t come soon enough. ... show more
