This is much more than a cooking torch. It has many applications so you may as well buy it for your toolbox. It's built nice and sturdy and the adjustment dial doesn't feel cheap. It also has a very wide flame range for different projects and it sounds pretty cool.

The media could not be loaded. Indoor Propane Torch Vine review. Brand: THERMOMAVEN. O M G ! It’s spark and awe! Now my girl was not expecting me to walk in our bedroom while she was in her 2nd hour of a telephone call and then see me fire this up. Not sure why, it was in my hand in front of me. duh! 🤷🏼♂️ Story resumes later. Fade to black. Spoiler alert: I did live. Begin review: It’s my experience that propane usually presents some kind of ignition or continuity issue. Not this Thermomaven Torch! I read through the brief instructions, took a photo (later edited said photo to emphasize SLIGHTLY opening the gas wheel) screwed on the bottle, SLIGHTLY opened the valve and pulled the trigger ONCE while pointing at air. O M G. It’s so simple. (Note: At home, best to keep it locked up with the best in biometric security locks. :) Now the skill is in the cooking, and isn’t it always? And the skill comes from the old “roasted” chestnut that says practice makes perfect. So get yourself a case of propane cans and practice on every piece of meat and dessert you can. 🥩♨️ You are welcome! 5 Star Product. And if you check my rating scale below, I’m not generous with the 5 Stars on Vine reviews. (Note: My purchases have a different metric.) Review ends. Story resumes. Black screen opens with the text: “15 minutes earlier”. I had just finished taking the usual Vine review photos showing box, look, & measurements. And I decided a video should be attempted. So I walked out, got a tank, screwed it on, and grabbed the phone to make a quick film in the back yard. That video attached. Then I walked back in the house, and saw my girl. and, you know next. FYI, without the tank attached, this torch has much in common, size wise, with dueling pistols of the early 1800’s. After my girl’s cussing died down I picked up an extension and told Wilma about what I saw on this end of the phone. 🤣🤣 And then I wrote this review, thrilled to have this hand held torch in my arsenal. And we can now start dis-cussing what's cookin' with this safe to use indoor propane torch. And all kidding aside, all this occurred safely and we always have fire extinguishers available.     • Great for post-sous vide searing
I purchased a searing torch a while back, but it was too big to be practical, despite being labeled as a cooking torch. It worked great, but I could not store it in the kitchen and it was a hassle to hook up, so I never used it. This is still a pretty big unit, but far more manageable and easier to use than my other torch. It uses the little propane cans (I have those green Coleman cans). The flame is, of course, adjustable. The unit lights up the first time every time. I love to sous vide meats, then sear them on a grill. However, if you are not careful, you can overdo it and ruin that perfect sous vide finish of the meat. With this torch, you get that beautiful crust without affecting the meat temperature, making you steaks and roasts look like it was prepared in a high-end steakhouse. Of course you can use this for other "blow torch" things, but I use it mainly for cooking. It is powerful, small enough to keep in your kitchen, easy to use and reasonably priced. ... show more
