  • "Too many USB hubs" (and devices!)
Size: 10ports
I generally like it. One big thing to be aware of (which is probably true of *all* USB hubs): internally (or at least logically, in the USB device tree) this hub is actually three 4-port hubs! Two of the 4-port hubs are cascaded off a "master" hub. So, of the 10 physical USB ports, two ports go directly to the "master" hub. The other 8 physical USB ports are thus one additional level "away" from your computer. This adds latency (delay), which reduces overall throughput by a few percent for things like external SSDs and hard drives. Depending on your particular overall setup, your operating system may even complain about "too many USB hubs" and refuse to recognize USB devices that are too far way (in terms of hub "hops"). I had this problem with my notebook computer at work... I was trying to use multiple physical (powered) hubs with a USB-based docking station. Some of my devices wouldn't work at all. My external SSD and external HDD didn't operate at their highest possible performance. I found an old Microsoft utility program called 'usbview'. This allowed me to see the problem. In the end, I had to give up on my plan to run everything through my docking station. Now, instead of just one cable connected to my notebook computer when it's docked, I have four. I'm now using every physical USB port on my notebook computer in order to "flatten" the USB device tree so that everything works. I had to make choices about the performance of my various USB devices. It works, but I wish there was a better way... ... show more

  • An Excellent Hub
Size: 16ports
As a hard-core gamer, you can imagine I have numerous USB devices. My Hands on Throttle and Stick (HOTAS) setup is three devices by itself, let alone gamepads, camera, MIDI cables and more. I had a powered USB hub before, but inserting and removing things so often ruined the ports eventually, so I wanted a hub with individual power switches, and enough ports that I'd have enough for my devices and room to spare. I've had this hub for six months now, and I can tell you it's a delight. I can switch easily from a gamepad, to a joystick, to a full HOTAS and so on with just a couple of button presses, and so far there hasn't been one issue with my Win10 machine reading anything plugged into it, whether it's a camera or a throttle or a foot pedal. This is an excellent hub if you use a lot of varied USB devices, and definitely worth the money. I hope it lasts a long time, but I'll likely buy another if it dies within two years. It's that useful. ... show more

  • So Far So Good
Size: 10ports
I was looking for a quality USB 3.0 hub, good ratings, functionality. I liked this one the most, and it has proven to be a good choice so far! I like the buttons to power up or down bus powered devices. The buttons seem of good quality. I also appreciate that this unit has some oomph for charging phones at least while connected to the computer. USB 3.0 external drives are waking and sleeping appropriately, and through-put seems good, even with all the ports being occupied. It's pretty tidy looking, no wasted space, but yet decent room around the inputs for all the plugs I am using. The led's are not obnoxious in intensity. There was enough length on the power supply chain to reach a few feet to a power strip I use for peripherals. I added the filter chokes, they don't come standard. I've been using this device 3 weeks to date. ... show more

  • CORRUPTED WINDOWS DRIVERS, DON'T BUY, unrecognized by Windows 10, Windows 7 and Linux Debian -
Size: 16ports
*UPDATE: I was too quick to state that reconnecting the older Anker 7-port USB 3.0 hub made all my devices available again. Three (3) of my previously connected Seagate 8TB USB 3.0 drives are no longer recognized due to corrupted Windows drives. THANKS, ACASIS, FOR CAUSING ME DAMAGE AND DATA LOSS. USB hubs are supposed to be the very definition of plug & play. However, as two relatively recent customers have noted, the 16-port version of this manufacturer's device is *not* plug & play, it is junk and should be avoided. The product was "Amazon's Recommended" selection and I mistakenly assumed that it was a reliable piece of equipment. I'm telling myself that the 500+ reviews and overwhelmingly positive ratings are either for the devices with fewer ports, or are all sock puppet fake reviews to pump sales before they are exposed, change the company name and resume selling the same garbage. FTR, I purchased the 16-port USB 3.0 device to replace a 7-port USB 3.0 hub that worked perfectly well, I was only wanting more ports. That 1 year old 7-port USB 3.0 hub has been put back in place and has resumed functioning perfectly after removing the garbage 16-port for return & refund. ... show more

  • So far so good
Size: 10ports
Just purchased about a week ago, seems well-made and rugged enough to stand up to long-term use. I really like the feature of being able to shut off individual USB ports that I don't use constantly but can still keep items plugged into (in my case, USB software licensers, MIDI keyboards, external drives). So, this should save me a little on electricity and also extend the life of these items. ... show more

  • A well built tight unit with a lot of features...
Size: 10ports
I have had more than a few of this type of unit and considered myself lucky if they worked sometimes or at all. The most common failing was failure after a short period of time on several of the usb ports. This device when it came already had a few advantages. It was tight with a neat and trim frame that takes up less desk space. It cam with the light and switch capacity I wanted. I started using it as soon as it arrived and for the month or so I have had it , I am most impressed. It is still working on all ports and the speed is fine as well as meeting the high demand I put on it. ... show more

  • Useful, compact, efficient
Size: 16ports
I used this unit for over a week now and it's definitely one of the best purchases I made in a while. We have a lot of electronics charged via USB and this allows us to not need a multitude of chargers. We've charged everything, from tablets to PS4 game controllers and Bluetooth headsets. It is also very useful as a USB hub with a computer, although in our case we've placed it in the electronics area, not the office. I might get a separate one for my office, as it allows to access peripherals and charge devices simultaneously. ... show more
