Description

This Big Brake Conversion Kit is a front & rear axle for 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler (JK/JKU) models. This bolt-on upgrade is recommended for Jeeps with suspension lifts, bigger tires and increased weight due to steel bumpers, skid plates and other heavy modifications. This kit features a set of new extended caliper brackets. The new brackets are used to relocate the caliper position to accommodate the new 20% larger rotors. The rotors are drilled & slotted to provide maximum cooling and silver Zinc plated to help protect against rust and corrosion. The Z36 Carbon-Fiber Ceramic brake pads provide a great pad bite and fade-free braking performance both on and off the trails. The Z36 pads also feature a premium stainless steel shim for better heat dissipation and virtually noise-free braking. This brake kit includes premium stainless steel hardware for an easy, problem-free install.

I have a 2017 JKUR hard top. I got it with 35s and found the brakes were not as good as I would like. They worked but for emergency braking I wanted more bite and found them lacking. After having the Jeep a while and building it up it has front and rear bumpers w/tire carrier, winch, 3.5 inch lift, steel skid plates(transmission, transfer case, evap canister, and gas tank), and I am now running 37 inch Pro Comp Extreme MT2 tires. I also have a shelf in the back with my recovery gear and other stuff like tools and such. I got the 37s recently so I knew I was going to be even less happy with the brakes. So I hunted around and found this kit. I liked the look and reviews so I gave it a shot. Went on easy enough though I did have to disconnect the rear sway bar links at the top to make room for a tool to break the rear caliper bracket bolt loose. No biggie though. I put it on solo and it took me a few hours just taking my time. I took the Jeep for a break in run and then drove it to cool them off as their guide suggests. I have since driven the Jeep a few times and every time the brakes are better. They are already noticeably better than the stock brakes and I am so much happier. The only thing I didn't anticipate was I now need to adjust the E-Brake. I didn't check this until everything was buttoned up and not wanting to take it off I ordered a brake spoon from Amazon that was around $5 bucks. This will allow me to tighten the star gear in the rear brakes to give the E-Brake better bite and work properly again. Without this you have to take everything apart again and I do no feel like doing that. The E-Brake works but just not like it did so it is something to check before you button everything up. Sitting the rotors next to each other the new ones are much larger than the OEM. The numbers don't look like much on paper but in person the new rotors are a big step up. I have 17 inch wheels and the rotors no longer look dinky inside the wheel. The kit looks great and it gave me no issues with the install. Everything was included and marked making it easy for me. Update: the tire spoon made adjusting the E Brake a snap without having to take everything apart again. In the middle on the rear side of the back brake housing plate, in between the arms of the caliper relocation bracket, there is a rubber plug. I used some needle nose pliers to pop that out and was able to adjust the brakes with the spoon. For me each I needed 6-8 clicks forward to get them to drag on the rotor. I lifted the Jeep and had the transfer case in Neutral so I could free spin the tire and listen for the drag. From there they will wear into the new rotors and all should be back to good. The plugs are hard to see and you'll need to get close to the axle to get a line of sight on them. Much easier than breaking everyone apart. Best $5 I've spent in a long time. Took about 20 minutes and that's getting tools and cleaning up. ... show more

    • Big brake kit
These brakes work well and are great looking. With that said they rub slightly on my factory wheels so I had to shave a bit off the caliper to clear the 17" factory wheels. So far they are nice and quiet. Installation was The same as factory.

    • "BIG BRAKE KIT" DOESN'T come with calipers; OEM Calipers won't fit either; Waste of time and $$
Unfortunately, this is not a TRUE BIG BRAKE KIT because it doesn't include everything a kit should like the calipers too. THIS KIT DOES NOT COME WITH CALIPERS; the first time I ordered this kit, the manufacturer "power stop" did not give me four rotors but instead only three - could not get in touch with Power Stop so I talked to Amazon and they said they would fix; They were kind enough to place another order for me but couldn't not drop ship or expedite so my vehicle sat for another week. Amazon also confirmed that they too thought the kit should include calipers as well. Could NOT do an order for 1 rotor, amazon would not allow me to, so I had to place another order and ask for them to send me calipers and the additional rotor to make it (4); I finally go the kit a several days later and got (4) Rotors, (4) sets of brake pads, (4) Caliper Brackets but once again (0) calipers. Got everything except the calipers; Shipping everything back and going to purchase another vendors product and will no longer deal with Power Stop; ... show more

The brakes work great. If you run big tires or tow a lot, the stock brakes require a lot of pressure to stop quickly; with this kit braking power is substantially improved and requires significantly less effort. Actually, the kit is great even if you run stock size tires and don't tow much. The improvement in braking feel is outstanding. ... show more
