Frequently asked questions

The Power Stop KC2119-36 Brake Kit is designed specifically for Jeep models, including the Cherokee XJ, Grand Cherokee, and Wrangler. It is application-specific, so it's important to verify your vehicle's year and model for compatibility before purchasing.

The carbon-fiber ceramic brake pads included in the Power Stop KC2119-36 kit offer enhanced durability and less dust compared to traditional brake pads. This makes them ideal for towing and heavy-duty applications, as they can handle high temperatures and pressures without fading, ensuring reliable stopping power.

Drilled and slotted brake rotors, like those in the Power Stop KC2119-36 kit, provide improved ventilation and heat dissipation. This design helps prevent brake fading during intense use, such as when towing or during extended downhill driving. The slots also help clear away brake dust and debris, maintaining effective contact between the pad and rotor.

While the Power Stop KC2119-36 Brake Kit is designed for ease of installation, it's recommended that someone with mechanical skills or a professional technician perform the installation. The kit includes all necessary hardware for a straightforward installation, but correct fitting is essential for the safety and performance of your vehicle.

  • Will it provide a noticable improvement?
Style: Rotors + Pads + Calipers
These went on a 98 XJ that has a 2 1/2 inch lift and 32 inch tires. Original brakes were functioning fine but had a "vague" feel. Looked at the WJ conversion but was put off buy the surgery needed. This seemed like an upgrade without too much hassle. The install went smooth, just pay attention to the brake pad orientation in the caliper. Clamp the brake hose off before removing banjo bolt to keep brake fluid from leaking down from the master cylinder via gravity. The test ride and break in procedure went smooth and after cool down I made a couple of panic stops, MUCH better, worth the blood and treasure. ... show more

  • Power stop Jeep YJ
Style: Rotors + Pads + Calipers
Power Stop kits are always awesome and next level of brakes. This is my 3rd set and they look clean for years with proper washing. They feel better and look great. No rust on the cross drilled and slotted rotors. This process actually serves a purpose because the brakes and rotors don’t get as hot leading to longer life and less brake debris on your wheels. Basic Brkaes at 225, why not pay the extra 100 and get next level that looks great also, that’s my mentality and I’ll always have there brakes on any vehicle I have. ... show more

  • Glad i bought these
Style: Rotors + Pads + Calipers
Never used Power Stop brakes before. I'll tell you though these are not bad at all, installation is normal. Removal was a pain in the butt, broken bolts, seized up caliper and all. However... Getting these on was a piece of cake after the old was out of the way. The bled really well and I can feel a lot of a difference to stopping power in the front end. When it is time to do the rear drums I will be looking to Power Stop to get the parts I need. ... show more

  • *Out* *Standing* *Brake* *Performance* --- period
Style: Rotors + Pads
Installed on XJ. Rotors & Pads w/ previously installed OEM calipers. In use > 2.5 months. I tend to brake extensively hard, on purpose. From high freeway speeds down to the stop light at the exit. I've replaced numerous warped discount part store rotors, last one warped in under 2 weeks. Thus far, these have been bulletproof. Perfectly balanced stops. Oddly, I have much more subtle touch when coming to a complete stop. Noticeably higher fine control. Initially some fade if I stopped hard in succession, but once they fully broke in, no further issues. That's one catch. Follow the break in procedures. 1/2 way through mine, I had an unrelated issue that required an immediate return to the shop, then I did the full procedure, again. It took a couple of weeks for them to settle in fully (fade mentioned above). But they did (whew). Solid now. Seriously, I'm a highly critical evaluator. Harsh. These brake parts have *radically* upgraded the feel of this Jeep. They have been a pleasure to drive. Longevity? Not sure yet. Any problems, and I'll update. But for now...πŸ‘ ... show more

The product arrived on time and it was packed sturdy. I waited to write a review until I drove around a while with them on my 97 Jeep Wrangler. They are quiet and are much better than the original rotors and pads. They do have better stopping power than my previous ones and they look great as well! Great purchase on my part! ... show more

  • A better option than OEM
Style: Rotors + Pads + Calipers
This kit is much better than OEM parts, especially if you have a lifted Jeep. This kit was used on a 1997 Cherokee XJ with 4.5 lift on 33's. Installation was easy, just like any other caliper and rotor change. The stopping distance is much shorter now and the front end drops when hitting the brakes hard. I recommend following the instructions for the pad break-in period. On one note, the rotors are drilled and slotted and are labeled with a small label indicating which side of the vehicle to install them, and you can verify with the part number on edge of the rotor; however, the calipers have no part number indicated anywhere on them. Calipers are side specific and if you install them upside down you will have air in your caliper that you will never be able to bleed out causing the pedal to go and stay on the floorboard. Reminder, the bleed screw on the caliper should always be above the brake line. ... show more

  • CAUTION - !!!DO NOT BUY!!! - GARBAGE PRODUCT
Style: Rotors + Pads + Calipers
Have had these powerstop brakes (calipers, shoes, rotor) installed on my 97 XJ for about 3 years now and have had nothing but problem after problem. GARBAGE PRODUCT. DO NOT BUY First up the driver side piston seized after about 8 months for no reason WHILE DRIVING nearly causing an accident. Huge safety hazard. Pulled the piston and cleaned it up and reinstalled and no longer a problem. About a year later the passenger side piston had been braking much harder than the driver side and destroyed my rotor and pad. Replaced the rotors and pads. Then today the driver side was braking weird so I pulled the caliper and found that the piston had a chunk broken off of the face causing it to apply improper pressure to the pads. The piston itself looks like it is made out of pressed together saw dust. Seriously? We cant use quality metal in BRAKE PARTS? Also the piston boots are torn in under a year from normal driving conditions. Absolutely unacceptable performance from such expensive calipers. I will NEVER buy powerstop products again and encourage everyone else to do the same. ... show more
