Features

  • [Five High-Quality Ingredients]: A premium potting mix comprises a balanced blend of organic and inorganic materials. The components include 55% coconut coir fiber, 12% peat moss, 11% perlite, 11% vermiculite, and 11% rice hull charcoal. The scientifically balanced nutrition caters to the unique requirements of different plant types, promoting optimal plant growth.
  • [Aeration and Drainage]: The addition of perlite and vermiculite enhances aeration and drainage, ensuring a well-ventilated potting mix that allows plant roots to access sufficient oxygen. With excellent drainage capabilities, it prevents waterlogging, reducing the risk of root rot. Effective drainage allows excess water to escape, maintaining an ideal moisture level crucial for healthy root development.
  • [Water Retention]: While promoting good drainage, the potting soil also retains ample moisture, keeping plants hydrated between watering sessions. This is particularly important in dry or hot climates, assisting plants in surviving dry periods and reducing the frequency of watering.
  • [lightweight]: Potting soil creates a clean environment for potted plants. The lightweight nature of the potting soil makes it easy to handle in containers and pots, especially crucial for large or hanging planters.
  • [Suitable for Various Plant Types: Potting soil is a versatile growing medium suitable for a wide variety of plants, both indoors and outdoors. Flowering Plants, Herbs, Vegetables(Tomatoes, peppers, lettuce), Indoor Houseplants, Succulents and Cacti, Ferns, Orchids and so on. • Good for seed starts.
Size: 18 Quarts
A little too porous for older seedlings

  • Clean smell, arrives moist, fills half a 1020 tray
Size: 3 Quarts
Before learning to make my own, I used to buy this sort of seed starting potting mix for starting garden plants. This mix seems decent quality. It has a pleasant smell with no musty or sharp overtones. There are a few small chunks of coco coir to break up with your fingers, but the soil arrives moist so it behaves well (not dusty). If soil arrives dry, you have to presoak it to "activate" it's absorption capacity again. This soil absorbed water just fine. Where I don't know if I believe the manufacturer wholly is about the amount of perlite and vermiculite in there. Their figures would say it's 22% of the total mix. I can't really see that in it - but the soil is still very light and fluffy and behaves like it has a good amount of those two buoyant rock products. However, in making my own seed starting mixes the past three years, I haven't even used vermiculite or perlite. So in the end, I haven't found it necessary for most plants (from trees to wildflowers to standard garden food plants). It may help for starting cactus from seed. It filled 1/2 of a 1020 tray perfectly, maybe they planned it that way? In my pictures, the first photo has the soil in as it arrived and the second is after one watering so you can see what floats upward. This seems like a good seed starting mix and will likely work for most applications. ... show more

  • Quality Potting Mix
Size: 3 Quarts
Like other reviewers, I am slightly annoyed with the packaging that is too thin and cannot be re-used. I did not consider it in my star rating because in this case because I am using all of this order. However, I will have to find special and separate storage containers when I order larger quantities. That said, I am reviewing the soil, and I want to say I am very happy with it. I'm in southern-central-coastal California so my impatience to start my vegetables and herbs is growing by the day. I have a hydroponics growing system with some lettuces on the kitchen counter, and more lettuces in small peat pots also thriving from the system light. But I am anxious to start what I plan to have on the porch--a veritable jungle of edibles from asparagus to tomatoes in all sizes and kinds of planters. To that end, I decided to try the smallest sample of this mix I could get. I am letting this mix do its thing with the hot pepper seedlings of various kinds ranging from "sweet" to "yikes!" Besides being tasty eating, peppers are gorgeous ornaments to any garden, adding all the warm colors of the rainbow to the mass of green. And right now, they are in small peat pots hugging the hydroponics light tank and light. I can see the tiniest bits of white and green beginning to emerge so this weekend they go outside (in a protected but sunny area). Since there is only enough soil for probably one good-sized pot, I have three different types that will be combined. May I say I adore this soil. I love feeling it, smelling it, handling it. I even love it under my nails. I won't make a final decision about ordering more for another month or so but it is all looking very good. As of now, I say: Highly recommended (by human and seedlings). ... show more

  • Not Quite What I Expected
Size: 3 Quarts
I ordered this to repot a few of my plants. The dirt looks fine, but I didn’t expect it to come in a very thin, unmarked bag with a hole in it. I’ll give it a try, and will update my review if anything happens to my plants.

  • Small quantity, didn't help my ailing plants, very lightweight
Size: 3 Quarts
I am not a plant expert by any means, so take my review lightly. I was surpised at how small the packet is. the bag came in a box that is about 7 by 5 by 3 inches. I didnt' actually measure it but those are guesses. Imagine half of a cereal box. It is light weight. It does have pearles. I used it as add on to plants I was repotting which had received too much water. They still died, they were probably doomed and it wasn't the soil's fault tho. It is so light that you have to pack it in for the roots to stay or you have to use a lot of it. ... show more

  • Quality soil, questionable storage bag.
Size: 3 Quarts
I decided to repot my Alocasia and wanted quality soil. This soil appears to fit the bill, having an appropriate mixture of rich organic material and perlite. The soil itself comes in a rather flimsy non-sealable bag (think the bags provided for vegetables at the grocer). If you do not use all the soil at once, be prepared to transfer the remaining soil to a reusable storage container. Overall, I am happy with this soil. I replanted my Alocasia a few weeks ago and it remains healthy. ... show more

  • Seems to be decent quality
Size: 3 Quarts
I obtained this for indoor starting of vegetable seeds for this Spring. A little too early here in the midwest (Ohio in early February) to actually start the seeds, but based on an inspection of the contents it appears and feels like a quality product. It's soft and airy and without any clumps. As others mentioned, the bag that it comes in is very thin so the packaging could be improved. ... show more

  • Has potential to be great
Size: 3 Quarts
The mix itself it of great quality, the packaging and presentation left a lot to be desired though and unfortunately these things matter to me when it comes to the price of the item and flexibility of storage. It came without any identifiable branding inside a thin clear plastic bag like the ones you see for produce or fruit at the grocery store. There was dirt all around the box as a result of this which was messy upon opening. If you only need to use part of this mix - be prepared to have your own container or sealable bag to preserve the freshness of the product and to prevent it from drying out. The product itself though - had it arrived in more stable condition the rating would have been an easy 5 out of 5. The feeling of it in your hands it amazing, it has all of the right ingredients for most if not all of my planting needs. It actually smelled good and fresh. It is leagues above other mixes I have tried prior to this. I genuinely hope this company sells enough to upgrade their packaging. I was going to rate it 3 stars due to the issues but after considering how good the product itself is - I raised it back up to 4. ... show more
