My 35 pound miniature Goldendoodle had it torn apart in about an hour, which is 55 minutes longer than most dog toys last with him! LOL! This is well made and very durable. If you have a dog that loves to chew rather than chew and destroy, this toy will probably last quite a while. My dog loves to chew and tear toys apart though and we usually just buy him toys from the bargain bin at stores. I was impressed with how long it took him to get through this one, but he did eventually chew through it and pull it apart. Again, that took about an hour. I just got my rabbit toy in the mail. My 6 month old Pomeranian has been chewing on it for 20 minutes and has already chewed threw the stitching. Also, although I can feel a squeaker it does not work. I don't believe this leather toy will last a day. Once it's open I will have to take the insides out to prevent him from shocking on what may be inside of it. Maybe this is okay for an older dog but not a puppy in my opinion, because teething puppies are aggressive chewers. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I am constantly searching for aggressive chewer dog toys. So many claim to be and one look and you know they haven’t met your dog!! Our golden retriever is so sweet until he gets his claws and teeth into a new toy. We nicknamed him the shredder, as he rips his new toys to pieces. I accidentally stumbled across this toy. We have never owned a leather dog toy. The squirrel is going to give Maverick a run for his money. The edges are double sewn closed. I am very impressed with the quality of this toy for $5.75 which includes the sales price and an additional 10% off coupon. Even without those two incentives the toy is less than $8 prime. The other shapes are similar or cheaper in price and now I see a 50% off 1 toy coupon when you buy 2. What a deal and the squirrel has a squeaker inside. What I like about the squirrel is that there’s less limbs or appendages for Maverick to shred off. The bunny has ears, the raccoon has hands, the buffalo has legs, the bone and retriever stick have a rope, the bear has a neck and head that could be chewed off, similar to the fox who has a tail and snout. The squirrel looks like it would be harder to destroy! The squeaker was hard to push at first but is easier now. Maverick has a black lab sister who loves squirrels, more so than she loves toys, and I found this toy searching for squirrel toys for her. It is offered in 8 other shapes. The squirrel measures almost 8” tall by 5” wide. It’s perfect for a medium or large size dog. Based on the construction of this squirrel dog toy it looks acceptable for an aggressive chewer and won’t break the bank. It’s very affordable. Always supervise! Updates to follow at Christmas:).     • Lasts longer than most toys

The only reason I’m not giving the toy 5 stars is because I wish that they didn’t stuff the toys. My dog is only 20 lbs but he loves to chew. The leather holds up well but once he gets to the stuffing he goes crazy and intentionally tears the toy apart trying to get the stuffing out. I’ve bought other leather toys that are thicker leather with nothing inside and they have held up better. All in all though it’s a great toy. The leather holds up well and my dogs loves it. I’ve bought a few different versions/animals and all seem to be the same great quality ... show more

The leather squirrel is a nice toy. However it is not a toy for aggressive chewers. Less than twelve hours since it arrived and a part of the head is barely hanging on. My dog has yet to find a toy she couldn't rip to shreds in less than an hour. This still has her working on it a week later. Suspect she finds it so fascinating because she has mistaken it for a no-no shoe that for some reason she is allowed to chew, lol.

    • Would NOT Recommend for Aggressive Chewers...

Item is very nice. However, unfortunately for my puppy (she's a Jack Russell Terrier Beagle mix), she literally had this in her mouth for barely 10 mins. She loved it, don't get me wrong. But OMG, she tore off a portion of the raccoon's face and proceeded to start eating the filling! 😩 I was lucky to have caught her very quickly and had to pry her mouth open and pull out a long piece of filling. I'm not blaming the manufacturer of these products. However, they do mention these ARE for aggressive chewers. So I thought, OK, I know she is. She's about 7.5 months now, recently spayed. Very friendly, I mentioned her breed mix, healthy and has that Terrier playfulness so far ANY chewer you must be at least hardy enough to hold up for a little while; especially when they mention its for "aggressive chewers." I couldn't believe she got to this one so fast. She has a rubber Kong bone which she loves, chews her heart out and plays fetch with us and it's holding strong! Also the smaller blue chew balls in we which you can put small kibble in if you wish...that is still holding well. I'm just adding this information in case you have an adult or puppy like mine who may be similar. Be wise if ordering. BTW, my puppy is about 19 lbs and has pretty much reached her full adult weight. I also have an adult male Chiweenie who is five and a half, 18 lb. While he's a fairly strong little guy, this would be great for him. So overall this toy ISN'T bad. I'd say it's not quite as tough to hold up to an aggressive chewer as they advertise. Just please be careful. ... show more
