Product was well packaged and came with a nice carrying bag. Every night I would go to EVgo and charge up to 70 and then continue home, but that would leave me with only 60. That's not going to work long term, so buying this has been great as a way of topping off overnight while I'm sleeping. I still have to go to the DC fast charger, it's great knowing that I can still get that extra 25 to 30% while I'm sleeping before I wake up and go to work again. ... show more

    • Inexpensive Way to Get Level 2 Charging

I have a 2012 Chevy Volt which can't draw more than 16 amps regardless of the charger level I choose, so this fact saved me money with a charge topping out at that level. Charging in 3 to 4 hours rather than over 11 is the main benefit for me here. The charger seems to be very heavy duty, solid construction and works well with a plug converter (NEMA 14-50P to 6-20R/6-15R T-Blade Adapter). The included NEMA 5-15 adapter was nice since it enabled me to run this from standard 110 voltage until I had could have a 240-volt outlet installed by an electrician in anticipation of buying a fully modern EV in the future. I'm unsure if this is related or just coincidence, but after beginning to use this I seemed to consistently get a few miles less of total estimated capacity from the car's battery. I haven't tested with the car's older included charger, so again I may be off base with this minor quibble. Definitely recommended if your amperage requirements don't exceed that of standard U.S. household current! ... show more

This is a very simple, not much info displayed L2 charger that does exactly what it's suppose to do, delivering 220V 16Amp charging, and so far so good. My only problem is the plug (to go into outlet) is a 90 degree L. So if your outlet's round ground plug is oriented towards a wall or obstacle near, it could get hard plugging in because the cord takes a 90 degree turn right out of the plug. ... show more

I just received it today and tried it for the first time. I charged my Nissan Leaf for 3 hours and it gave me an additional 10% on the battery meter. I checked like every half hour to see if the charging cable got hot. It did not. This was on a regular 120v outlet. I only charge in my garage using a regular 120v outlet with the Nissan original EVSE which is very heavy and bulky. This is good to keep as an emergency back up charging cable to leave in your trunk.
