Description

Pool Rx+ [Pool Rx Plus] is the updated algaecide formula from Pool Rx. Pool Rx+ contains three active ingredients Copper Sulphate, Zinc Sulfate and Silver Nitrate, adding additional layers of protection to the original Pool Rx formula you have come to trust. The yellow Pool Rx+ spa unit is an EPA Registered, NSF/ANSI 50, Certified algaecide supporting 100-400 gallons of water. Pool Rx+ reduces chemical demand, improves water quality, simplifying spa care for up to 6 months. Re-treatment intervals vary based upon conditions such as bather load and splash out. Replace the Pool Rx+ spa/hot tub unit every time the spa/hot tub is drained and refilled, or if algae is coming back or the water looks a little dull, even though the water is balanced, and has at least 0.5-1.0 ppm of chlorine. Pool Rx+ products can support any size body of water & are ideal for use in chlorine, Salt, UV or Ozone spa/hot tubs.

You really need to go to the website and read the full instructions because the instructions On the package are woefully inadequate. Be sure that you run the pump for 4 to 5 hours to completely dissolve otherwise you get this weird blue foam film, oily stuff on the top of your hot tub. On the website, it shows that if you have any algae in your water, it will be clearing 24 to 48 hours. Maybe it says 24 to 72 either way it’s been a week. The water itself is crystal clear but it still has a bit of a green tint to it. So it has not completely done what it says it will do on the website. Do I think it’s helping overall: yes. If you own a hot tub, you understand the pain of the chemical experiment that it is. This little tool makes it so much easier to maintain the hot tub. This sits in the filter basket and I don't have to touch it until I switch it out a few months later. I also have a floater with chlorine tabs. As other reviewers experienced, this IMMEDIATELY turned my hot tub water green, and left a green ring at the top of my hot tub (see photo). I decided to give this item a try during a standard purge / drain / clean / replace filter with a brand-new unit / refill hot tub maintenance period. After bringing the hot tub up to temperature, and pH, alkalinity, etc. into spec, I popped this unit into my hot tub's strainer basket, and turned on the jets to full to introduce this item's minerals into my water. Immediately, and right before my eyes, my water turned green and got darker and darker green as the 15-minute jet cycle completed. It also left a green / blue ring at the hot tub's water line. This color didn't clear up at all, so I had little choice but to drain and refill my hot tub again. The water has remained non-green since then, but hasn't been any clearer than it was before nor has this enabled me to use any less sanitizer. The only things this unit seem to do is impart a mild unpleasant smell to the water (similar to other copper-based items I've tried - smells like crayons), and regularly deposit a faint green ring at the hot tub water line. I put this unit in my 12,000 gallon pool in Palm Harbor, FL in October 2023. My pool has remained balanced with minimal additional chemicals compared to 10+ years prior. It's magical mineral content makes a positive contribution to my water stability 4+ months on going.
