Let me first tell you that I live in central florida and have struggled with cloudy water and algae since owning this pool 9 months ago due to the warm weather. I’ve spent hours at the local pool store and a ridiculous amount of money on pool supplies doing what the pool store professionals tell me to do including shocking it each week, cleaning the pool filter twice per week, and adding an algaecide each week. There was algae on the ladder that would not come off no matter what we scrubbed it with. So, I turned to the Amazon shopping professionals, scoured over reviews and photos and decided on this Pool Rx+. I applied the product exactly like the package said. The next day, my pool looked beautiful! 6 weeks now of putting nothing but chlorine in it: the other chemical levels are perfect, the pool has never looked this fabulous and the algae on the ladder is GONE! Thank you my Amazon professional shopping buddies, I always look to you for great reviews and you didn’t steer me wrong! If you are having this algae problem…just buy this, you will be happy you did! CONS: the product was clumped into a brick instead of powder, but I took a screw driver and a hammer to break it up before adding it to the basket. Now, I would usually take off a star for this, but copious amounts of time, money, and stress were saved, so they are getting that star back!!     • So Far No Algae At All in my Chlorine Cement Pool

I have owned this cement pool for 25 years and have always struggled with controlling algae. The chemicals and algaecides I bought from Leslie Pool Supply were expensive and barely worked in the heat of the summer. I had a severe problem last summer where the drought we had and the amount of chlorine tablets I had been using had bloated the Cyanuric Acid to an extreme level where the water wasn’t clear anymore. Leslie told me to dump 3/4 of the pool water to reduce the Cyanuric Acid but I couldn’t do that because I have a large pool that holds 44,000 gallons. So I dumped the top couple of inches of water and the water became clearer but I limped through the pool season until they dumped a significant amount of water when they closed the pool. Before the season my friend told me to forget all the chemicals from Leslie, especially the chlorine tabs which also put too much conditioner in the water which was increasing my Cyanuric Acid levels. She said to just use liquid chlorine essentially and put in Pool RX. I didn’t need those expensive algaecides either. I had a little bit of green algae at the beginning of this season and I saw in a few spots a little bit of black algae which became more of a problem last summer. I put in Pool RX about a month ago and so far no algae at all and the pool water is crystal clear. The biggest test will be the very hot weeks of summer in August but my friend said her pool did fine through the hot spells last summer with Pool RX. I am very confident at this point that Pool RX has solved my algae problems. I will definitely buy it again next year when I open my pool. ... show more

This stuff does the trick. South Texas heat didn’t affect the chlorine levels one bit since the pool rx did its job. Must have if you want to keep algae at bay and lower your chlorine use.

When I received this it was all one hard clump looked old probably got hot at some point . The pool Rx+ unit worked wonders originally and I bought the booster because it wasn't working as well and that's what they said too do . It was a waste of my money it didn't do anything . I should have just bought a whole new pool RX+ unit but they said you could just use the booster. I emailed them about how I received the product they said it was fine just put in skimmer and let it dissolve so that's what I did after first day no sign of it working like the original unit did second day I had algae growing now my pool is all green and it's going to cost me more money to get it back to normal. Don't buy from this supplier I should have trusted the reviews I read on it there were a couple other people had almost identical problem with the booster from this supplier and now that I followed their directions they sent in email I don't have a product to send back for refund pretty smart of them to tell me to use it . I tried to email back after it didn't work and have gotten no response can't return to Amazon because I put in pool . I guess lesson learned next time it doesn't look right just return to Amazon without dealing with supplier. ... show more

I’m amazed at this product! My above ground pool was very green and I thought nothing was going to clear it up because I kept checking my chemical levels and the PH in my pool kept running high. I couldn’t get the PH down product since it was out of stock for a week so I figured I would try this Pool RX product and I’m so glad I did! Since I don’t have a skimmer basket, I just spread some of the Pool Rx directly into my pool by placing it all around the outer part of it. I didn’t use all of the product since I was trying it out and was afraid to. I used like 2 TBSP of it. The next day, my water was clear and not green anymore! I highly recommend this item!
