  • Awesome product and fast delivery
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
I love this product. It eliminates algae. I highly recommend this. It says they last 6 months but I have had one last that long. I went through 2 of them last summer. Which is still way cheaper that all the shock and other chemicals I was using every week and still fight an algae problem. The first one lasted about 2 months. The second one last through the winter. When I opened the pool this year I still had a fairly new one that I used at the end if the summer. I saved it and used it to open my pool this year. My pool was so green that you could not see the bottom. I opened the pool but didn’t have time to shock it or do anything. I stuck the pool RX on the skimmer to see if it would help at all. 1 week later my pool was clear with zero shock used. That blew my mind. I thought it was just a preventative but it killed all the algae and cleared the pool up. My water started getting green again a month later so I shocked it and bought this Pool RX to start the new pool season. I still use a chlorine tab floater but I don’t shock the pool but maybe once a month now. I only do that because people say I should. But my water is crystal clear. Just try it. I think you will be impressed. But you will likely need two of the to complete the pool season. But it is worth it because the maintenance is down to basically just vacuuming once a week. ... show more

I believe this worked good in our pool & saved money on Chloride. It lasted the year. Will get another for this year 2025 summer.

  • Works great, but new packaging makes me nervous.
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
I’ve been using a PoolRX for the last few years, and they definitely help keep the water clear and reduce the amount of wall scrubbing. However, the newest packaging (cardboard box with a ziplock inside) have been delivered with moisture and leaks - there’s some liquid inside the bag, and residue inside the box from where the liquid leaked. I’m not sure if this is normal, as all of the units I’ve purchased prior have come completely dry and in a clamshell package. ... show more

  • WORTH THE COST IN PREVENTING ALGAE
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
This is a secret that your pool store does not want you to know. Using this device with its chemical additive in your pool filter will prevent very costly algae treatments. Think bags of shock and a $45 algae chemical treatment . It is good for 6 months, but I purchase extra chemical additives from the PoolRx folks to make one device last a whole year. It puts copper chloride in your water that eliminates and prevents all types of algae. Trust me, you won't regret the cost. ... show more

  • A miracle!!
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
Man, I don’t know where this thing has been all of my life. We have dealt with yellow algae for the better part of two years. We tried different things that were just temporary fixes. Then, I found this online. It is nothing short of amazing. I just dropped it in the basket and it went to work. I wish I had before and after pics!! Within 3 days the algae was gone. Over a month later and it has not returned. I spoke to my pool guy today and he said my pool has been great. I was asking about this product and he said, “Man, I don’t know what it is about it, but I know a lot of people that use it and it works.” He said it works about 90% of the time. The only issue I found is that when I added it my CYA went up to about 100. I really do think it was because of this. However, my pools guy said everything was good and my CYA is now 70. It’s still high, but he said all other levels look great. I haven’t had to really do anything to my pool. I forget to clean it because it looks so freakn good. I am talking clear water! If you want something that works, please do not hesitate to get this. I really wish I had known about it a long time ago!! Would have saved me time and money. It’s stupid how simple it is to use. Quick and easy. Just drop it in and you’re done! ... show more

  • Does your Algicide really work??
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
The Pool RX-Black works well... It is expensive ($90/unit-good for a 25-30K gallon pool) and in the CA summer heat may not last the full advertized 6 mos effective life. It also requires that you keep your pool chemistry balanced (free Chlorine levels, pH, Alkalinity, Ca Hardness). I have tried a number of other liquid algicides with mostly marginal to poor results - they are all expensive, especially if you have to keep adding more because they aren't doing an effective job and you have to do extensive cleaning to keep the algae off the bottom and sides of the pool. The Pool RX unit just sits in the skimmer or pre-filter basket and controls both black and yellow algae (good pool chemistry is important). If I got the full 6 mos of effective control with one unit, I would have given Pool RX 5 stars. ... show more
