Hello I bought this sub to match my XT series speakers. I have the XT70 towers, XT 35 center channel, XT 90 atmos and now the XT 12 sub! When I say watching movies is now fun again! This sub really fills in the gaps and creates such a sound that it makes me want to go back to alot of great movies and rewatch them all! I caught it for a steal at $199 here! The only downfall is that it got lost in shipping so took an extra 2 weeks and the box inserts were literally destroyed! I was wondering if if even worked but it's fine after all of that! I'm watching the Matrix now and loving it! ... show more

Most of the money spent manufacturing the Polk subwoofer was used for the most important aspects/features. It seems to outperform similar subwoofer’s of the same price.

I bought the Polk Monitor XT12 subwoofer, to complete my MXT series of speakers. I have a pair of MXT70 tower speakers up front, an MXT30 center channel, a pair of MXT60 tower speakers that I use for side surrounds, and a set of MXT20 bookshelf speakers at the rear. Now all of my speakers match, and are from the same series, and my home theater sounds amazing. The MXT12 added the punch I needed, over the 10 inch Sony I was previously using, It’s an awesome subwoofer, and I definitely recommend it. ... show more

I bought this product because of the fantastic price of $250, it was selling for $399 so just a great discount! There really isn't a whole lot of info about it, professional reviews/personal reviews. Going into it I knew it was big and would need more space on my wall than I have. Previosuly I was running a polk subwoofer rm something. This is much bigger and can defintely push out more bass. I have it accompanied with bass shakers and currently I am trying to find the right mixture to get what I want. I have adjusted the volume on the sub down because it was rattling my wall and I'm adjusting receiver's sub volume up to get more shake from my shakers. It is defintely a beast and I might reposition to get more from it, but it's pretty cool so far. I honestly could not tell anyone the ins and outs of the subwoofer, but it can move some air. Another great sound piece from Pol Audio! The only thing I did not like about it (hence the four-star rating) was the cabinet. It is not as "slick" and put together as well as the one on the 505 subwoofer, plus the grill covering is a bit more flimsy, but the 505 price has skyrocketed so I settled for this sub. I was replacing an old, much more expensive Velodyne sub (may it RIP). Not wishing to spend a fortune on one this time around, I opted for this Polk sub. I had some concerns about the quality attainable in this price range, but I knew Polk as a quality brand, and I was pleased with the purchase. Yes, this sub can shake your house if that’s what you want. It can probably shake your neighbor’s house, too, if you turn it up some more. But I was after neither of those things. It was clean and accurate base which adds color to the sound without being overwhelming I was looking for. In fact, from where I stand, if you are playing an audio track, and one can tell right away that there is a sub, it’s probably too loud. Clean and accurate base is exactly what this sub delivered for me. Someone here mentioned that auto-on wasn’t working well. It does work very well for me. Just don’t limit LFE output too much on your AMP. I have it limited to 120 Hz on the receiver to make sure a good amount of output flows into the sub to reliably trigger auto-on. Then I limit the frequency with the sub’s own crossover some more to achieve a perfect balance. If I were to make a wish, it would be to have an LED indicator on the front of the sub to see that it did turn on, like my old sub had. Assuming nothing fails through it is certainly not a necessity and would require an add-on to materials and cost. ... show more
