  • Big fan of the novelty camera!
A few years ago, a local camera shop was closing down so I managed to scoop up a couple of different kinds of novelty cameras similar to this one (one with a fisheye lens, one that takes little square photos, etc.) and I had fun with them so I thought this would be similar. I was right! It totally reminds me of my first camera when I was a kid, complete with analog operation and real film!! Wow! I love how they squeeze out every last nanometer of space on the film with this camera. It's super fun to see what comes out and how many people's heads are lopped off thanks to the disconnect between the lens and the viewfinder. Ha! Great for nostalgia so keep that in mind if you're looking for a serious camera... ... show more

  • Throwback photos
I forgot how much I love photos on disposable cameras. With the latest technology of smart phones something we sometimes lose is the essence of a photo because we are caught up trying to get the perfect one. I absolutely loved this camera as it took away the need for perfection and I could just snap what I wanted. The quality was great and I loved getting the film developed and having physical copies of the photos I took. It was also a surprise when I got to see them. ... show more

  • Vintage Fun
Got this for my son who is a budding photographer. He’s 17 and never used a camera like this. Was fun remembering how myself and showing him. Easy to load, sturdy, but lightweight. He enjoyed it and has used the first roll up already.

  • Very Nostalgic
A little fun, super cute camera for myself. I love taking pictures and this camera takes me back to the 80’s. I added a AAA battery. Installed the film. Took a quick selfie. :-) Confirmed it works. Next, I plan to use the camera to take random everyday photos and get then get it developed. Looking forward to seeing how they turn out. Camera may also serve as decor for my photo studio as well. ... show more

  • A 35mm Throwback but with Half Frames!
I'm slowly making my way through the film this camera comes with and the 1 Shot is your standard plasticky "toy" camera, but with the Half frame feature. It's lightweight, a no brainer to load + shoot, and reminiscent of those cheapie giveaway 35mm cameras from back in the day, but with better styling. Love the optional flash and slightly dark metallic bronze color! ... show more

  • Brought back memories
Took me back 40 years to my first camera. My son wanted the experience of taking pictures on film vs digital and this is perfect. Makes you think about the shot & anticipate it being developed.

  • A piece of plastic
The media could not be loaded. I’m a professional photographer that also shoots film. I’ve worked with Holgas- this is FAR from that quality of a “cheap plastic camera”. I cannot even shut the back. When I can shut it, it doesn’t wind. For the life of me I cannot get the film to catch to advance to the first shot. So reopen, push more film over, spend 20th time trying to get the back closed again, and….. wind wind wind wind. Nothing. ... show more

  • Very lightweight camera, interesting concept, with all-manual controls.
This is a very quirky camera. It's plastic and very lightweight, with a retro, 1950s look to it. Reading the instruction folder - which is well-illustrated - is essential. Everything - absolutely everything - is pretty much controlled by hand. You'll manually advance the film, and then manually rewind it when you've taken all the photos you can. The viewfinder has been modified so it's narrower than the width of the actual lens you're looking through. (Note: You're not looking through the camera lens. The viewfinder is above it, so it's not 100% representative of what will be in the photos.) I'm pretty sure the narrowed viewfinder is because you'll be taking half-frame photos. They won't be the full dimensions (or proportions) of a typical 35mm photo. There's no focus option on the lens, so it's best to follow the instructions and take a photo at least 3 feet from your subject, with the sun (or other lighting) at your back. The package includes a roll of film, but no batteries (which you will need). The included film is ISO 400. If you haven't used a film camera before, that ISO is usually for taking photos in lower-light conditions, indoors, or - if you're outside - when there are a lot of clouds. (I've successfully used ISO 400 for night photos, outdoors. But, even with a flash, those photos turned out pretty grainy.) So, it's likely that this camera's lens doesn't let much light in, in normal settings. If your photos turn out too bright, you may want to experiment with ISO 200 film, which is more typical for general photography. I haven't tried this camera to see the photo quality, yet. Because it makes unusual use of the film - taking half-frame photos - I want to be sure a local film service will be able to make prints at a reasonable price. So far, I'm told that this is a special request and means premium print prices. (I'll update this review when I find a darkroom service I trust for this... or finally set up my own home darkroom.) This is an intriguing concept and a quirky use of 35mm film. However, it's probably best for those who like experimental photography (lomography comes to mind), and artists like me who like to test-drive offbeat approaches to the visual arts in general. ... show more
