I don't read Poets & Writers Magazine all of the time, but when I do I thoroughly enjoy it. My time doesn't always allow me to read everything, but the information provided I find to always be helpful, informative, or entertaining. I appreciate the writers they interview and even though a bit odd to acknowledge the fact that most of the ads inside the magazine are related to writing in some way or another as well. For any writers out there, this is a good way to feel like you're in the loop and have some idea what is going on in the writing world. Give a read to just a few of the articles and you'll be more in the know than someone who didn't pay the reasonable price for the issue. 12 dollars for the year is nothing. I have been receiving the poets & writers magazine for a number of years now via Amazon, & while the kindle version is much smaller than the full magazine, it is very portable, & good value for the money (as a poet on a budget). I feel I have gained a lot of useful information about the current state of the industry, & have been introduced to a number of good writers & poets. As an older person (started writing at age 56, published first book at 57, now 5 books on) I particularly like the 5 over 50 articles, but the P&W databases are all very useful. ... show more

This is a great magazine for poets and writers. I've enjoyed it for many years. The articles and author profiles are fascinating. The articles in the mag tell you about the whos who of up and coming and popular writers, the best who are working today. Excellent magazine to keep up with whos who in the trade and what is news in creative writing. ... show more

    • Poets and Writers Inspires
Currently my favorite magazine. Love the listings for contests with the perennial hope of a one-day winner (having come in second in a Writer's Digest Contest in 2007). The articles are inspiring and the news of emerging writers is engaging. Also, as strange as this might sound, I love reading the ads for the MFA programs. Although I obtained my master's of fine arts in writing from Goddard College, Plainfield, Vermont (2011), I love reading about the other programs and daydream about going to another. The Miami one looks great, the Mid Western ones (Ohio, Iowa and where have you) would be certainly a different experience, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles...I want to go to them all. My feelings are based on the liberating and transformational experience I had at Goddard. Want to sample the rest of the dishes. ... show more

This is a great resource magazine for writers. It often includes the lastest and most up to date information about writing and poetry publishers and contests. This is very important because the pubilishing market is everchanging. This magazine also features articles and stories related to the craft of writing well offering many practical insights and suggestions for one to improving his or her writing skills. ... show more
