I thought I had already reviewed this item, but perhaps the review was bounced for venturing into "medical advice", so I will not drill down into why anyone might want to steam one's face in this review. Hopefully it is OK to write that I, personally, do want to steam my face (and have for decades), but prior to obtaining this PMD SilkSteam Pro, I never did so - not even once. The thing is, that it seems easy enough to steam one's face w/o a special gadget. You literally just boil water, throw in some herbs, and hold your face over the boiling water (towel above to hold in the steam) for a bit, breathing in the steam and letting it hit your skin. Easy enough, but it also never happened for me. The kitchen is a busy place, I would end up explaining what I was doing or just yelling for people to go away instead of having a relaxing steaming session, and then, when kids were added to the mix, the prospect of having a pot of boiling water going on the stove for "me time" purposes went completely off the table (boiling water ending up on child is very bad). So, finally, this PMD SilkSteam Pro allowed me to achieve my facial steaming goals. It is save and easy to use. I can use it alone, away from the kitchen. Yay! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The steamer is very relaxing to use. I was a little letdown by the power of the steam stream. It lets out. I have to get my face pretty close to feel much. The heat level depends on how close you get to it. It feels soothing and clean after using. I absolutely love this facial steamer/humidifier. It is compact, stylish, and easy to operate. I found the mist to be smooth and therapeutic, and not too "wet". I like that you can add essential oils as a diffuser. I have dry skin and allergies and this has helped me to feel relaxed and hydrated. My relative had surgery on the inside of her nose recently and I let her try this steamer. She said it helped calm redness and was very relaxing and comfortable. ... show more

There's literally nothing that I don't love about this facial steamer! First of all, it's incredibly easy to set up and use right out of the box. All you have to do is press the removable container on the front, and it comes out easily. Add water to the container (directions say distilled only to ensure the product's longevity), then pop it back in. A simple power button on the front is all you need to start a luxurious little steaming session. You can also add essential oils to a section in the top if desired (there are filters included). The steamer heats up very quickly and produces a wonderfully gentle steam. They call it "SilkSteam technology", which honestly is the perfect name for it, because the steam does have this light, silky feel to it. PMD has been a trusted brand in skincare for a while, and I can see why after using this facial steamer! I've only used it occasionally so far, but it feels so nice that I think I'll be adding it into my routine a few nights a week. As a side note, steam is such a nice comfort when I have itchy/watery eyes or congestion from seasonal allergies, so it's nice to have an easy way to do a facial steam. :) ... show more
