  • This is very hard to use on small engines
the bottom of the tool is faced outward from the cylinder. It is not bendable, and it was several tries before I finally got the edge to insert into the cylinder enough to allow inserting the pistons. This was both sides of the motor, both cylinders. I generally use small screwdrivers or pencils to push the rings in with alot of effort but positive results every time. This tool was actually harder to get to work into the top and allow for sliding of the piston into the cylinders. I will give a plus that the shipping was quick and the tool (except the edge that was supposed to go into the top of the cylinder, it needs it be slightly angled in the current tool it is faced outwardly) the tool is well built and well-built otherwise. I would recommend but be ready for a bit of frustration. ... show more

  • Ok for the price
It gets the job done if you’re careful. You really have to keep a lot of pressure down on it against the top of the block so that a ring doesn’t slip out. You have to be very careful not to damage your rings. There are better designs out there, but surely they are expensive.

  • It's the right tool for the job.
If you have to pull a piston for any reason, you need to have a good ring compressor - even if you only use it once. I've done 2 engines with this and it's still good as new. You may not use it often, but every mechanic should have one.
