I have gotten a lot of accessories for my camera but, this by far this the best one of all. It is built well and is very high quality. For how it is made worth the money. Can see it in my bag for a long time to come. Up Date: 3-30-17: So two of the screws bent on me. I called and left a voice mail and e-mailed the company. Not any longer then 10mins after the e-mail Larry, I am assuming the owner or manager called me. Ok WOW! Told him what had happen and he was just as shocked and baffled as I was as to what happen. He told me that they should not bend at all. No worries, I was just looking for the size so I could go and get a new one. Nope he would have none of that. He said that since it was under warranty he would send me out two new ones. Well a few days later they show up in the mail. The customer service for this company matches the product. One of the best I have had in a very long time! People who love to shoot at different angles and views should buy this! Worth every penny both from the product and the customer service! ... show more

I love the Platypod Max & all of the Platypod stuff. This is a very handy platform for my camera. I haven't had it long but I am planning on using it on a photography trip in Oct. I have used it around the yard & hope to hit the park next week. It makes it possible to shoot at very low levels or to attach it to a tree or lots of places. Before I had it in hand I was leery about putting it on a tree. I was afraid it would fall & I'd lose my camera. After seeing it & trying it I feel comfortable.It is sturdy,lightweight easy to carry. The smaller one the ultra would fit in your pocket but this might have to slide into your camera case but it will tuck in lots of places. It does take a few minutes to screw in the feet & set it up but everything does. There are rubber feet which I purchased so if you are putting it on a table it is protected. I think it will be a great asset to my photography accessories. ... show more

Goes to show how something so simple can sometimes solve complex problems. Don’t get me wrong, this does not replace a tripod but places that tripods won’t fit or are cumbersome, where a full tripod is unnecessary, and especially in areas where tripods are not allowed, this maybe acceptable! All from a relatively small, light and thin aluminum plate that fits perfectly in my camera bag. First let me mention I purchased my PlatyPod Max with the Oben ball head as a package deal on Amazon, so no head is included in the $99 price. But the combo in my opinion is so worth it. If you already have a head or if you’re like me, I’m lazy (lol), I’d rather leave the one I have on my tripod. This is a great option. Now about function, I can think of so many ways and possibilities this could come in handy. Once you have your camera mounted on it this thing is rock solid! You can tilt the camera back and forth at any reasonable degree and it not so much as hints at tipping over! You can use it as is on a flat surface, you the included (4) screw-in feet, spike side down or rubber side down for surfaces you don’t want to damage or It to slide on. Also if you’re on a very uneven surface, you can use just one, two, three or all four to give it Stability. Once you’re done with the feet you can store them back in their genius magnetic holder!     • Great Little Invention
Great little invention. I wish I could think of something like this to make a fortune. Lightweight and easy to use. Not only can you get low to your subject, but it was engineered so it can be mounted almost anywhere via straps, nails, etc. I paired it with an inexpensive ball head, and two tie down straps. It stays in my bag at all times ( which is about the best thing you can say about a lot of gear ),and I shoot from it with a Canon 5DM3 and a range of lenses up to a 70-200. There is one other similar product on the market at about twice the cost, but it is not near as flexible as the PlatyPod Max. ... show more

    • Low and steady, captures foreground elements
I attached my Canon 5d IV with 24-70mm lens (a hefty full frame rig) to the Platypod Max last night while shooting along the shore at San Clemente Beach in Southern California. Being so low brought in foreground elements I would have missed using a tripod. This is so much lower than any of my tripods could have gotten the camera. ... show more

    • Durable, stylish - and it works amazing!
Had this gizmo for sometime now and finally used it yesterday. I needed a wide shot of a very tiny place so I ended up using it by placing it on top of a table. This thing is solid. It will hold a full frame camera without worries. The four screw on legs are great - the rubber keeps it steady while the threads gives you great flexibility of balancing or leveling your camera. I came across this product by accident- wasn’t really sure how useful it would be. I hate lugging my tripod around and often miss good shots because I didn’t bring it. The Platypod max is well built and can accomodate my canon eos and my longest telephoto lens. I was surprised at how solidly built this is- there are clear icons n the plate which are helpful to an amateur like me. As a Commercial Photographer, I had to shoot a -30º warehouse freezer. With a ball head attached to the Platypod, I was able to make a tripod out of my 10' A-frame ladder. I used zip-ties to secure it to the top of the ladder and it worked flawlessly. I consider the Platypod a MUST HAVE for my photography business! ... show more
