It does what it says it will do. It tracks my movement quickly. I'm a dancer. I got this to use in studio so my movements aren't cut off in video. That's about all this will do. I'm aggravated that I have an iPhone Pro 13 and I'm confined to using the camera functions of the Pivo app. The Pivo decide will not work without the app, so all those fancy functions that I have from iPhone Pro camera are useless. I can't even zoom out in the Pivo app. I can't even take advantage of my phones 4K 60 fps video resolution. So yeah, Pivo lets you capture all of your movement, but that's all. You can do nothing else. Confinement to the Pivo app renders all of my phone's camera technology completely useless. I'm about 99% sure I'll be returning the Pivo for a less expensive device that doesn't require the use of an app. For what I paid to have an iPhone Pro, I want to be able to use it in full. All my grandchildren play sports and I really wanted it so I could enjoy the game without trying to film at the same time. It was wishful thinking as it does not work for fast action sports. It tracked any figure that moved including the audience. I am going to give to my granddaughter as she loves just making videos. Got this less than a year ago and this morning, as I was setting up, the part shown in the picture fell off. I can attach it back, but it’s no longer recognizing me. Contacted Pivo’s customer service and they are replacing the unit, since it’s under warranty!!!

It was a good concept. I wouldn’t be able to charge my phone while sitting in the Pivo base if my phone went dead. That was a deal breaker for me.

The media could not be loaded. I've been taking a lot of online dance classes during the COVID shutdown and posting videos to my Instagram stories. The problem was I would have to film over and over because more frequently than not I would move out of frame. I got the Pivo Pod Silver in hopes it would do as advertised, follow me as I moved around and keep me in frame. I chose the Silver because it can move at a higher speed than the regular Pod, and I thought I would need that for my turns and movements across the floor. The Pivo Pod SIlver was really easy to set up - just download the app and connect to your phone via bluetooth and you're ready to go. It has four tracking speeds: Slow, Normal, Fast and Frenzy. After playing around a bit I chose Fast and filmed a quick dance video, exported to my iPhone photo gallery, and uploaded to my Instagram stories easily. I got a ton of comments from people about how cool the camerawork was in my video. You can also use Pivo Silver to track you during a video call. For that there's a separate app to download called Pivo Meet. Pivo Meet gives you a link to send to people to join the call. They do not have to have the Pivo Meet app. Once they join it works just like a regular Facetime or other video call, except you can now move around the room freely and Pivo will follow you as you talk. It worked great with a single caller, but crashed when I tried with multiple callers. In any case that's not the primary reason I got the Pivo so I'm not too worried about it. In all I'm super happy with the Pivo Pod Silver. So far it does exactly what I got it for, which is tracking me when I shoot a dance video and keeping me in frame. It really is like having a virtual cameraman. I haven't tried it for my art time lapse videos where I frequently have to deal with moving across the page with my paint brush, so I'm hoping it will be able to help me with that. There are a ton of other fun features that I haven't tried yet, such as Multi-stream, Magic Edge and Many Me. I may try those further on down the line.     • Nice performance but not very useful because its so dependent on using the Pivo apps

When you first connect with the Pivo app on the iPhone it does work really well. It's a very impressive demonstration of how your iPhone camera can be automated to follow your movement and auto zoom in or out. BUT in I call it a "demo" and not actually very practical because it requires you to use the Pivo app. This becomes a major achilles heal. Once you're in a Pivo app you can't go directly into Facebook, YouTube, Instagram ... etc and stream live. Pivo does provide a work around solution which requires you to subscribe to the restream service. Having to subscribe to a separate streaming service that then connects to a Pivo app now makes things more complicated and error prone. It gets much worse if you want to live stream to Instagram. For Instagram you now need to subscribe to a 2nd livestreaming service to take the output of Restream and stream it further to Instagram. At this point you'll definitely need to lug around a laptop with internet connectivity so that you can properly coordinate all of this. Finally, there's the extra cost of subscribing to these other services if you don't want logos of other companies showing on top of your livestream. So if you wanted to livestream to Instagram with no logo it will cost you a minimum of $19 a month for restream and additonal $24 a month for an Instagram restreaming service such as Loola TV. That's $33 a month, a laptop with internet connectivity and then dealing with all the logistics of getting Pivo connected to restream and then restream connected to Loola TV and then making sure the settings on each streaming service is properly set. In other words you probably need an assistant to accompany you on location to make sure everything is working. Sigh. So while Pivo is a really neat demonstration of what could be possible in the end I decided to return it. I'm instead going to try one of the tracking devices that DO NOT require an app to operate. If all you care about is recording a video of yourself then Pivo will work fine for you. BUT if you want to do any kind of livestream, facetime or zoom conference and have Pivo work ... you may want to try something other than Pivo. ... show more
